You will be briefed by the shelsley team before you run up the hill and then it’s away you go and as many runs as possible before lunch break , it’s a buzz and half , We aim for 3 runs - last year I think at least one group in the morning got 4 - might have been both groups Afternoon I think we had someone do 7 runs I’m sure we did 5 on the morning session last year or possibly 6 ,

What happens with the reserve slots ? Are they picked by admin ? And if at the end of the show you try to beat last years record and cars drop out or don’t want to run is there scope for people to join at the end to make the run numbers up ? I ran last year in my old mans Jetta vr6 , If you are on the reserve list don’t panic - already had my first drop out today Fingers crossed then , be nice to run my own car up this year ,

If you've never been up the hill before and/or driven in front of a crowd of eager spectators I would advise you just go easy on the first run at least. There have been very few 'offs' that I can recall and I'm certain none of us want to be 'that guy'! (or girl obviously) The same goes for the burn out at the bottom. I stick a little map to the dash to just remind me what way the road actually goes. This is because I'm elderly.
I love being a part of the hill runners and the eclectic mix of cars is always a real treat. I'm determined to finally get some video this year too.

I ran last year in my old mans Jetta vr6 , Indemnity forms and sign ons is the issue with that - afternoons always thin out - people don't plan for more than 3 or 4 runs so fuel suddenly becomes an issue - guest cars that have run all day get more reluctant to run again and again - we just keep running with what we have which is why afternoons always get far more runs (those that want them anyway)

Is a helmet mandatory for the hill runs? Yes we have a limited number of loan helmets normally but there is a hefty deposit required £50 and we cannot guarantee to have enough of all sizes Much better to bring your own if you can

I did 5 last year... in the morning! It was perfect.
My advice would be to walk the hill the night before or super early in the morning - or if you're in an afternoon slot at least walk up the path when the morning group are running. The bit that catches me if I'm going for it at Shelsley is the first section and especially the grass on the right hand side - try not to drop a wheel onto this.
Use your first run as a sighting run and if you fancy it then get press on progressively as you become confident in the next two runs, if you're lucky you'll get some bonus runs...
Pro tip: clear the inside of your cabin of anything that can fly around and distract you. I also do up the passenger side harness to keep that from distracting me/slapping me in the head.
Pro tip 2: make sure you pack all your vehicle documents, insurance, tax etc - I had to borrow a randoms phone, and then walk to the top of the hill for signal to show I had tax or insurance, one or the other.

Thanks for the offer, I’ll drop you a pm if I don’t end up buying one, Thanks it’s just standard apart from a pug sport exhaust, still has the original 1.3 fitted, looking forward to giving it a run up the hill, I was going to do it a few years ago, but it ended up I couldn’t make the show... I assume open face helmets are fine too, as they’re ok for track days...
