Hi. I'll be abroad for most of the time between now & the gathering so I'm trying to get organised a bit earlier this year A couple of questions : Were the results from the previous auctions ever published (takings, and where the funds went ?). I know the orginal auction was in a good cause - and it's one of the hilights of the gathering for me - but I just realised I don't know what happens to the money it makes Are we having a tat auction this year? *PLEASE* confirm yes (paging HoTWire bstardchild ) ps. I'll be heading South after the gathering, if anyone wants to meet up or has suggestions where I should visit, best PM me or add a note to my "Wombling" thread rather than clutter up this gathering post forum.retro-rides.org/thread/197691/womble-ing-improvising-leaving-wales

You can't beat being half steamin' and buying something off KFW you didn't think you ever needed and probably never will. 😆

So how does the tat auction work? We can all donate items automotive we no longer want/need from around the garage, and then we all get a chance to bid for them while drunk? From reading above, the money raised all goes to charity? Sounds like I’ve been missing out for a long time

Where is the money heading to?
I could well bring a box of LiquiMoly stuff along; Octane Booster, Hand Scrub, Classic Racing Oil etc if I can say a few words when we auction it..

From reading above, the money raised all goes to charity? Sounds like I’ve been missing out for a long time Pretty much spot on There are some undercurrents going on throughout the auction process which it helps a little to know what they are Undercurrent 1 - whatever foxy has it's very likely that everything offered will fit his car (even clearly when it doesn't) Undercurrent 2 - If it's for a Monza or retro car stereo related MonzaPhil will buy it (even if he has several already - so people will try to push the bidding up - it is for charity after all) Undercurrent 3 - Stuff bought at prior auctions are frequently donated the following year and auctioned again - kevfromwales often recognises said items and says things like "curse word not you again" or "groundhog day" Undercurrent 4 - Lots of people are in groups (of mates) - it's a very social event - what better thing to do than try and bid up the auction that a mate is bidding for - sometimes it doesn't work and you end up with it See point 3 There are others but you'll soon get them if you watch what's going on and keep your hands in your pockets It remains for me the highlight of the year

Where is the money heading to? Carefully selected charities I could well bring a box of LiquiMoly stuff along; Octane Booster, Hand Scrub, Classic Racing Oil etc if I can say a few words when we auction it.. Doesn't sound like the sort of stuff that would sell well too me Broken/wrecked parts from your 2CV would go much better

Ok... I'll pack some wrecked 1st gear layshafts, blown throttle body rubbers from too much boost and the inner arches that I freehand cut out with the plasma torch... seems more your jam.

I can’t wait! And the fact it all goes to charity is never a bad thing! I’ll get digging about the garage and see what I have lying around

Sounds like I’ve been missing out for a long time Undercurrent 3 - Stuff bought at prior auctions are frequently donated the following year and auctioned again - kevfromwales often recognises said items and says things like "curse word not you again" or "groundhog day" Pretty sure my old MB 190e grill had seen a few auctions now. If I can't find any other tat to offload I may well offer the banded wheels thing again.

If anyone actually wants to legitimately buy Monza or audio stuff then you're in luck, I will not be attending this year

I loves me a good Tat auction.
Though, if folks could dig deep and supply slightly less 'tat' and more usable stuff, the money for charity can only get betterererer
