Second time around on the dash for Gem-2 I had an epic fail on the first attempt with getting the space behind the dash slightly wrong on the GF dash I had so now making one from aluminium. Really annoying as it was a great layout - just a shame the the instrument placing just clashed with a load of stupidly placed Autotune steelwork. I should have done what PHX's owner said he thought I would have done and just cut out the tubes and replaced it all with round tubing done it how I wanted. Maybe another time. Spare GF dash there for Bomber which I was going to use for Gem-2 after the fail but have decided on ali' now faced with some matt Black vinyl wrap or more accurately named sticky backed plastic for this Retro application. A dozen new old stock Allegro/Metro exhaust mounts I ordered also turned up today so should now be in a position to complete the mount on Gem-2 Once the dash is done the wiring will follow on quite quickly.

So when were you guy's going to point out to me that the coil that I found that fitted Bomber so well was in fact the coil from Gem-2 ! Well thankfully as I am rewiring Gem-2 I can remake the connections to suit this old bit of retro goodness I found in my rummaging around. Some varied pricing for these old bits of electrica on eBay.

Found two fans in the stash thus far - both suckers so no good for what is required - There are another couple in the shed somewhere and there will be a bit more room available to have a proper look around when the G27 wheels are moved out of the way. Two days in and the Gemini project on eBay is making a move price wise and the seller has added a bit more detail on what comes with the car. So where is the betting going to open on what a 1600 X-Flow flatback Gemini project is worth. Difficult to value as they really do not come up that often - watch now as 3 turn up in quick succession. No the other two will not be mine .... or will they Back to the day job all this week so it will be slow going on the projects plus the weather really looks naff.

Quick job on Gem-2 today - now named Cinders - no, nothing to do with fires or embers. Dropped a roll of stainless wire on the MIG Fitted the exhaust mount and nipped up the clamp on the silencer and tacked the mount - took the silencer out ran a couple more welds on the mount ... ...and done. Better get it running so I can hear what it sounds like.

Original Falcon MK2 Competition shell - 1958/1959 I think - on one of the race chassis of the period. Could be a Len Terry chassis. Autotune carried out the restoration.
Edit
Actually a MK3
"Falcon Competition Mk3 Tubular spaceframe chassis designed by Len Terry. Works car raced successfully in 1960, 61 and 62 with various drivers including Howden Ganley."
Was up for sale at £25,000 and sold.

After setting the tappets and dropping the rocker cover on - Tick Work started on sorting out the big hole in the bulkhead where I ripped out the mini heater - It took longer than it should have due to having decided to use the old parts as templates in order to match the rivet holes so as to not have to weld and re-drill. Then moved onto giving the dash a first fit. New Battery has arrived - half the weight of the old 063 type The dash will get a bit more work today and there may even be time left for the wiring to be started.

Provisional dash layout. Would be nice if the chassis cross tube was just an inch lower as it would make life much easier and have fewer compromises - Hmmmm as it's a keeper. Could do most of the work off the car with nicely mitred joints rather than the usual Autotune standard of joint. Not much wiring done - a fair bit of thinking and sketching went on though. Project prices appear quite strong as the eBay car finished at £3100.

... Project prices appear quite strong as the eBay car finished at £3100. This G20 "Race Car" went for $9500 on Bring-A-Trailer yesterday... *Edit: Sorry, this probably would have been more appropriate in one of your Gemini threads...I'm easily confused.

I thought this may happen - the recent Gemini project hitting £3100 has shaken another loose - Gemini project Another flat back - but one that has been modified by the looks of it or its a different mould entirely as the rear boot lacks a lot of its curves - some other odd aspects like the non engine cover flip style front and the suicide doors. If driving these things is not suicide enough! Been marked as MOT exempt by the looks of it which is not correct - but if you give folks the option of ticking a box so they don't have to spend £40 a year that's what you will get. Looks to have been Green originally. Hit £2K quickly - has the potential to go to a reasonable value as it would be of interest to the Euro buyer. Could make £3500 at a push maybe - who knows - current market is all over the place but it's a project all the same.

Are they because there's no interior door handles so you have to poke your arm out to open from the outside?

Well it didn't get to £3500 - it stalled at £3000 and sold - So a project that needed quite a bit of work £3100 and another that's almost on the road £3000 - no guessing the pricing on these things at present but around £3K for a project appears to be the rate.
May drop the G15 work for a day tomorrow and get some wiring done - Have a mind to rip the loom out of Gem 3 and give it a once over.
