Just been on the phone to Christian from Classic Line getting the car insured for the journey to RRG2019 , Easy peasy and a great price too. First time a owners club 'discount' scheme has actually been cheaper than my other quotes.
Cheers guys

Another recomendation from me
Not only good value (quote was competitive and included breakdown and the RR discount)
Staff were friendly, knew what the crack was and didn't pressure anything.
Can't fault them

Tried to get a quote through the website and it said I couldn't get a quote because of the specialist nature of my car. I'd hardly call a hillman avenger with wide wheels and lowered suspension particularly specialist

Got a quote for the Jag form Classicline, the staff were great, easy to talk too and very friendly but the quote was absolutely woeful. Stayed with Adrian flux in the end who were way way cheaper, shame as I like the idea of RR getting a kickback from it. Maybe next time. *Edit, also just as a heads up they are listing us as retro riders. That sounds like the title of a dodgy movie to me

Stayed with Adrian flux in the end who were way way cheaper, shame as I like the idea of RR getting a kickback from it. Maybe next time. I had the opposite experience when insuring my new car, and I was a little bit annoyed in the end that I didn't switch to Classicline. I had already set up a insurance policy with AF ready to activate the day I collected the car if I bought it. But I decided to see what an RR discount ClassicLine policy might look like. I got a really good quote from ClassicLine. About 35% cheaper than the AF quote. Found the process of enquiring and getting a quote very friendly, helpful and pleasant. So I called AF back up to say I was cancelling that and going with ClassicLine. This was a big deal for me as I had been with AF for many years and I don't often change if I can avoid it. Firstly this is pure laziness on my part and secondly pure naivety... because I like to think that if a company has had a relationship with me for ten years then surely they'll look out for me when I need them. So I called AF up and said I wouldn't be proceeding with that policy. They asked why and I said I had had a much better quote from ClassicLine. At that point, AF asked me if I would be willing to give them a chance to match the ClassicLine quote and it would take about two minutes. They also said they could transfer the no claims bonus/record from my outgoing policy to my new policy if I stayed with them. So I said "OK sure, see what you can do" Two minutes later they came back to me with a quote that matched the ClassicLine quote. I had to ask them why it was originally costing one amount but they could mysteriously make it far less in under two minutes. I was told they'd all but eliminated their commission and moved a few things around to get the quote down. I said I found that a bit odd but if I could transfer my no claims bonus than fair enough. So I stuck with AF in the end. Sorry ClassicLine. H.O.W.E.V.E.R Once I had the car back home and it was time to fill in the mods declaration sheet and send it off, lo and behold..... I owed them an additional £100. The ad for the new car listed all the mods in it, so I had included all of them in my description when first setting up the policy in the first place. There were two very minor things that I had discovered since owning the car which needed to be added... the dash clocks were not the original dash clocks and the seats were period correct Chevy seats but from a Monte Carlo (which is what the 1977 El Camino is anyway), not the original El Camino bench seat. For that, they added on £100 which took me right back to where I was in the first place with their original quote. That smelled a bit like a rat to me. I made my feelings known about it but in the end I'd got so far down that process I just expressed my disdain, sucked it up, and paid it. classiclineuk if you're reading this I'm interested to know if a driver's no claims record can be transferred in any way when moving to a new insurer. Can it at least be seen and taken into account? I'd like to get a quote from you at next year's renewal.

We can look at keeping your no claims bonus current when insuring a classic vehicle with us. We look forward to re-quoting you next year, as we would not have charged you for those upgrades Anyone is welcome to give us a call on 01455 639000 with any insurance related questions, we are happy to help. Thank you

I tend to be a creature of habit, but it's not the first time I've felt there might be some dubious sleight of hand going on. It will be time for a change next year though.

To be honest I have intense distrust of any insurer they are all about maximising profit so don't kid yourself any are out to be your best mate. I will go with the cheapest that offers adequate cover but I'm under no illusions about how any insurance company operates if God forbid I might actually have to claim for the one thing I pay a premium for every month. It's all a big game and they hold all the cards. As I stated in my initial post the person I spoke to was lovely but the quote was shocking. AF were a lot cheaper, how? Why? Who knows? It's all a big mystery, pull a figure out of the air. I wanted to use classic line for the forum but it didn't make financial sense. I'll try again next year because someone has to take my money and as long as it's near competitive it might as well be them. 🙄

Exactly the above, I have three different policies running on our classic / modified cars, all with different companies I would of insured all three with classic line to support the forum.....but the quotes were not competitive unfortunately For a 51 year old with no claims or points I can’t understand the wildly different quotes Insurance for cars is a strange world

Just spend ages on your website trying to get a quote for my Mk3 escort cabriolet First it won’t accept a reg date of 1985, so after I changed it so it’s inaccurate and finally got to the end, it tells me that due to the ‘specialist nature’ of an unmodified vehicle it can’t give me a quote! Not impressed!

Not impressed! Hi there, thanks for the feedback and sorry to hear that you've experienced an issue. We rely on data that is returned from a DVLA database and we are working with our supplier to remedy the odd discrepancy. With regards to getting a quote returned online, sometimes we don’t return one due to a few factors such as annual mileage or how the vehicle needs to be used. Your effort will not be in vain as one of our team will contact you during the day to see if we can find a product that suits your needs. Many thanks.

If I put my car in a farmers barn, away from my house that other people has access too?
Would that still be ok to be insured? As it’s something that in 6 weeks I might have to do.
Thanks.
