I don't know how the film will turn out, but I'm not sure about the marketing.
I saw a thread about this film on an American-based, non-car forum. Their take on it was "it was the mid 60s and Ferrari ruled at Le Mans and Ford wanted to beat them. So they got Carroll Shelby to design and build a car that could."

Joking aside, it looks like a good wheeze. Although maybe slightly Ford-centric from the trailer. Maybe a more accurate name would've been "Ford whups lily forn ass, yee-haw"?* no idea how it fits with anything, but i just wanted to type GUBMINT !

'Based On' = 'Artistically Interpreted' The problem is some will take it as 100% historically correct and what they have seen on screen gets passed on as 'Fact', in effect changing history . . . Looks a fun movie nonetheless

well , went for a look and its not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. it contains the expected amount of typical hollywood artistic licence with plenty of facts and details "tweaked" to suit the script. also way too many fast and furious style "changing gear so zoom in on pedals" shots. all the same , me and the boy enjoyed it. not sure it will be a massive hit though as there were only 6 other people in the cinema!

Watched this today. Go and see it, very good film, never boring, pretty accurate - it’s a movie after all - and has some stunning camera work and great V8 soundtrack. David vs Goliath and Goliath wins. 9 / 10 for me.

Went and saw it yesterday (also less than a dozen of us in the cinema but we deliberately chose the 2pm screening!) - they totally glossed over the fact that the cars were essentially British designed and built but that was to be expected really. Great effects though, even with the fast and furious 22 speed boxes. £10 tickets and another £10 each for popcorn and drinks reminded me why I haven’t been to the cinema for years

just the barest mention that the car had been flown in. some very subtle humour in it though.

I hate those multiplexes, the Majestic is a typical 1920s style cinema, still has a great screen and sound too.

Just got back from seeing it. Loved it.
A packed cinema. A few seats left but not many.
Don't understand all the gripes about them not making a bigger point about the base car being a British built car.

Don't understand all the gripes about them not making a bigger point about the base car being a British built car. Superficially it doesn’t matter at all, it’s still a good story - in the same way that U-571 is a good film, showing how the Americans captured the first Enigma machine.

Don't understand all the gripes about them not making a bigger point about the base car being a British built car. Some people just have to have a moan,it's that simple. I saw it yesterday,It was a great use of a cold and wet Saturday afternoon,a fast, funny, heart warming and exciting story based on actual events. Like with all this type of film, they are made to entertain,of course there will be artistic license involved.it's story telling,in this case I think it was well done.Ken Miles characterisation contains quintessentially English traits which make it very pleasing to the ear and eye,the portrayal of Shelby seems pretty accurate too based on what I've seen of the real man. Go see it and be entertained,it doesn't claim to be a documentary and it shouldn't be viewed that way.... Ps. take your own drink and popcorn,it will be naughty and nice! 🤣

Mrs sowat and myself went to see the film last night Really enjoyed it, thought it got all the basic facts in and made a good "car" film story Liked the way it got across what I perceive it takes or is like to be a racing driver (I'm not !)
