This is the first time I've done this sort of thing in 20 years. The main thing I've learned is that I either need to drink more or less to keep my hands steady. There's a problem though. I managed to destroy one of the side stripes. I don't think I can paint one on. Does anyone know if you can buy sheets of wet transfer decal material so I could cut one out?

Id suggest masking it with a decent, fine masking tape, and brush painting it. Other than that I'm pretty sure plain black lines are available for either aircraft use or model railways, but then it would be difficult getting the right width and length. I tried printing decals before, but you need a really good printer to do a decent job.

I decided to chance my arm with Revell. Revell USA pointed me in the direction of Revell Germany who do marketing for Europe. They are going to post me a full set.

To update this, true to their word, Revell have provided another decal sheet. All that remains is to fit the door mirrors and the decals. The mirrors need drilled holes and I forgot before uniting the body and interior. A cheap mini drill should be here tomorrow.

Next project. Having done the Golf as VW intended, I may mess with this a bit more. I don't like the chrome wheelarch trims and they always have too many badges for a start.

Not as much progres Not as much progress as I'd like but at least it's painted. Wheels will be steels with hubcaps eventually.

It's taking longer than expected due to pressures caused by full size cars but I'm getting there.

I know it only looks like I've added the wheels but more has been done under the skin, honest.

Golf looks good. Getting that side stripe decal sorted makes all the difference.
Chargers looking cool too. The 68 is my favoutite shape.

Basically it's taken a month to stick the door handles on (upside down). Now contemplating whether to put the big stripe round the tail.

New project. I wanted to build this one as a kid but got distracted by beer and a full size mk2. Mine will be sans decals and in white with black wheels Unfortunately, I can't upload images at the moment. [/img]

The body moulding is quite rough and has a few sunken bits so a bit of p38 may be needed. On the finished ones I've seen, the stance is high at the front as per the rally cars and the rear wheels don't fill the arches. I plan to space out the wheels a bit a raise the rear just a touch. The moulding on the rear arches is very thick so I'm going to thin it slightly for clearance.

Happier with the way the rear wheels fit now. Still undecided as to whether to make the front a bit lower or the back a bit higher.

The body is filled and primed. The front wheels look ridiculous now that the back ones are spaced out so I'm going to move the whole strut out.
