Selling my ultra-reliable workhorse:
Done a few thousand miles in this over the past couple of weeks, used both by myself and a couple of family members. It's done all sorts of duties that these old tanks are capable of.
It's no show queen or spring chicken, but it never fails to start, it doesn't leak or overheat and has never broken down or left us stranded.
It has the sought after VAG-sourced 2.5 litre 'D5252T' turbo diesel unit, with circa 140 BHP. It won't excel at traffic light races, but will cruise at 70+ mph for hours on end.
Rare 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, which is good. Clutch is also fine, with a decent biting point. Goes through all the gears as it should. The majority of these cars are automatic and you don't often find these in manual guise.
Brakes are good with no noticeable shuddering or pulling.
Suspension doesn't creak or knock, and gives the car a lovely supple feel.
Tyres are good. The rears are excellent matching Goodyear Efficient Grips. One part worn fitted today on NSF, as it was getting low on tread. The 60-section profile on the 15" rims gives the car a cushioned ride, unlike the harshness of modern day examples.
New front wiper blades will be fitted over the weekend, as the rubber is just beginning to perish.
This thing is amazing on fuel, it will do over 600 miles on a full tank at cruising speeds! We were actually trying all we could to make it drink more, but it didn't and returned decent economy each time.
Bodywork is a bit bruised, showing signs of wear and tear. Both front and rear bumpers have scuffs on all corners. There are a few scrapes and dents on the bodywork. No rust or rot, and it generally seems solid. It won't win any beauty awards, but will provide reliable motoring and doesn't look as bad as I have made it out to be!
Interior is ok, but there is the usual wear & tear and driver's seat bolster is worn. Leather is cracked in places. These are some of the most comfortable seats you will ever experience in a car. Passenger front door card has been removed, due to the window not working. OSR window also not working. Door card is in the boot, and needs to be re-attached. Rear wiper arm is missing.
Heaters, cruise control, CD player, radio, wipers (all the important bits), work as they should.
Comes with: 2x Keys, 2 x Remote Fobs, Volvo Leather Folder, Volvo User Manuals.
