With winter almost upon us no one likes to be working outside and my current situation for my long term projects is a small plywood box built around the car in the drive with a tarp roof. it keeps most of the weather off but is by no means warm and dry, also the lack of insulation means that my neighbours frequently get an education in creative expletives. So quite some time ago a large amount of concrete was mixed and layed down then a retaining wall built around it. It measures in at 30' x 15', the foundations are at least 12" deep and the bed is minimum 6" thick. I also layed visquene sheet under the bed and the foundations to keep the water out. Since the concrete was layed it has been used for storage and hardstanding which has been much nicer than wallowing in the mud that was there previously however its a bit to open to the elements for my liking. I was a bit slow getting everything sorted hence why I'm trying to do all the work in the cold and rain rather than the nice sunny days we had earlier in the year but finally i got my geese in a line and ordered all the timber and roof sheets so we can get a frame, roof and walls sorted. Saturday was a let-down due to the rain but Sunday dawned foggy and damn but not raining. The current squatter had to be unwillingly dragged from the premises before we could start. Just far enough out of the way so we could get started Then removed the tons of leaves that were sat in the bottom The plan is to built it like a kind of lean too against my dads workshop, hes a joiner so was a considerable help on this project. Fist off we had to cut a big lump of the sheets off his workshop, break out the big grinder. Before any of you worry I'm almost 100% positive that its cement fibre board and not asbestos. These sheets will be going back on on the new outer wall of the workshop We came across a few bird nests in there that were evicted and some rather surprised spiders. A beam gets fastened along the wall for the joists to connect to. Due to the layout of the workshop we had to fasten it directly to the steelwork rather than use an existing wooden beam that runs along a bit further up, so it got bolted through the steelwork and some extra vertical supports. The outer wall is going to be held up by 4" posts in post shoes under the wall and the outer framework will be fastened down to the wall. Joists and purlins going in. By the time all of that was up and done there was cold beers calling and the next steps are the front frame to hand the corrugated bards from and the roof to fit, since the roof sheets didnt arrive before the weekend then we sheeted over the exposed wall with some old plastic sheeting and hopefully it will stop too much water getting through into the other workshop. Hopefully the roof sheets will arrive in the next few days and next weekend the weather will be dry enough to get them all fastened on. Stuff i still need to order/sort. Inner cladding Lighting Wiring Airline Doors I would also like a window somewhere I'm pretty sure i have enough insulation boards left to clad it but we will have to see. There is plenty still to do as the adventures continue then once thats done i can get back on with the cars.

No messing around there. That’ll be a good space to work in.

Can't wait to get some walls on. It should be easier going from there.

Well Saturday arrived frosty and cold. Still no roof sheets Once i had prised myself away from the warm fire with a cup of tea i got cracking with the framework to hang the side panels on. Plenty of measuring and laying out later
Framework done. Once i got it all fastened onto the frame the whole structure got alot more rigid. Unfortunatly that was about it for saturday as there was a couple of other bits calling for my attention.
Sunday was even colder and i got cracking a bit earlier to try get a full day. So the short story is that my little wooden workshop has to come down so the donkeys (familys horses) can be yarded as the fields are to wet. Down it comes. Its built out of small bolt together sections so it can go up or down in half an hour.
Lowered down with the engine crane so i can remove the frame and bolt the wheels back on.
The workshop is getting filled up before its even finished. Quite alot of stuff came out of such a small little box. Out comes the big drill so i could fasted the frames down the the wall. I'm very determined that this building isnt going anywhere. An extra pair of hands turned up so i got cladding. By gum Alf that'l be a bit draughty
Still needs tother panel on yet Terry i have gone with good ole' yorksa bordin. The old side panels were precicely measured and cut so they fit back onto the gable end. Back wall finished
Side wall panels remounted complete with window gaps. I want plenty of natural light but still need to aquire some big and bright led panels to fit in the roof. Starting to look like a workshop. It started to get dark now so using the roof tarp i covered the cars over and went in for a cold beer.
So will my roofsheets arrive next week or will i have to go on a warpath of trying to get my money back and sourcing another supplier stay tuned to find out next week.

Roof sheets arrived today so no lynching required. I will most likely get them on this weekend and from there it will hopefully be a bit more easy sailing as with some big halogens i can continue working on the inside even when its dark and cold, a few extra days off over christmas will fingers crossed leave me with a semi functional workshop.

Roof sheets!! Yay Everything is going to plan except that lastnight my sister reversed onto the pile Not too extensive damage ill just have to do some panel beating before they go on. The sheets were just a little bit too long so after trimming a little bit off the top we started screwing them down. Not too many hours later we are making progress, I'm going to need to cut up a sheet to make some shorter panels to fill the gap above the clear sheets. Roofsheets are finished. Yippee Starting to look like a building now A couple of hours of daylight left so i started the frame for the doors. I have some old existing and only partially rotten doors which will be going on but i only need 3 of the 4. Basic door frame knocked together just before it the darkness set in. There is a seperate hole for a small person door so i don't have to faf with the big doors everytime i want to go in or out. The weather tomorrow is due to be rather miserable so i might be able to get the old doors modified inside and hung inbetween showers. Fingers crossed.

Doors!! Rotten doors First off I'm fedup of wading through the mud and other detritus covering the floor. Since it has a roof now i can get cleared up. Get the doors up and check out the extent of the damage/rot. hmm it appears i left my wood welder in my other pants so i removed the worst of the rot up to the brace The doors were still a bit to tall for the new opening so i removed a bit of the top aswell. First one mounted
I have left an inch gap underneath which will be getting a rubber or brush seal i havnt decided which is best yet. The other 2 doors got the same treatment and needed a bit of sideways trimming and afterwards they fit pretty well. The doors are far from perfect but i will endevour to get them rubbed down and painted or stained. The inside will be getting insulated and then a sheet of ply screwed on should keep some heat in and
add some strength.
The initial plan was to go into town and pick up some strap hinges for the middle door from any of the usual suspects however after checking online nowhere seems to stock strap hinges I know a local hardware place has them in but ill have to wait till monday, so for now ill have screwed the doors into the frame and some plates screwed over the gaps. Now windows, We happen to have some double glazing laying about that were the wrong sizes for the job they were bought for. Actually they were the correct sizes just in the wrong order, they got the length of 1 and the width of the other.
They were just about right for what i needed so some quick frames knocked together for them. ok maybe a little short but the remainder gets covered over for now. All in a good weekend of work. The garage is now mostly dry and somewhat draught proof, some more boarding to do for that to be finished though. Not sure why some of my pics keep showing up upside down

You need to shrink the picture file size too - takes forever to load them.

Making some headway on photo size and orientation. there must be something wront in the meta data because if i rotate all the way round save it and reupload everything works. I have also added a tag into the image link, not sure if it has scaled the filesize down or just displaying it smaller though.

Are the images taken with an iPhone? if they are it's a known and problem you need to orientate them correctly and then save as you said. Adding the 50% in the link doesn't reduce the download as you're still downloading the full file, you need to resize the image before you upload it. Looks a great space to work in.

Nope taken on an android.
Might have to look into some alternative hosting then as at the moment i just upload to my G drive and link from there. There isnt an easy option for adjusting file sizes. Yes its a good space, starting to get a feel for the size of it now.

If taken on as phone you can change the photo settings for web/social media etc which automatically reduces the size when you take the photo.
