Pretty much all my threads, and photos going back years, on various forums seem to show photos are gone, or removed.
Anyone else still using Photobucket have a the same problem?
Yes........
I know itโs a sh!te site, but itโs what I have used forever.
Just that I use it and was wondering.
Thanks

If you paid the ransom (sorry, subscribed to the new business model), it's probably fine. If not, then you're at their behest. Looks like they're gone past the "cloudy image" trick and on to "no third party hosting at all" again.
For me at least, they completely destroyed years of useful information out there and the trust of millions so even if it was an unlimited option for a penny a year, I'd rather put the penny in a charity box than give it to them.
If you've paid up, I'd be screaming blue murder at them.

With the 3rd party hosting option? They seem to offer several options - some just hosting space, and the "higher" option including 3rd party hosting - aka forum posts..

Been at ransom for years and paid as I did not want to move around etc. Blurred image nonsense is criminal too. And yes, they have destroyed so much information

Been dead to me since the extortionate price hike. Rarely post photos these days.

In that case I'd be straight on to them for failing to provide a paid up service.

I tend to use Imgur, have for years. They have a different business model and relys on a social media/advertising sort of thing. but free image hosting, and you can choose to make the images public or private.

Why do people use these sites?
Posting to RR is as simple as pressing the Add Pictures button and choosing photos from your PC/Laptop etc.
For backup I save to an external solid state drive. Everything within my control and no subscriptions to pay :-)

When PhotoBucket changed their model to not allow embedding onto 3rd party sites (unless the OP of the image paid) it killed a huge amount of old forums.
I use a Chrome plugin called "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" which messes with the header information that the browser sends to make PB think the image is not embedded. Useful for me on old how-to guides (the MK3 Supra forum has saved me so many times), up to you how you feel about the privacy aspect of running such a plugin. I enable/disable the plugin as I need it.

I don't like that bar they put across the middle of your pics, it spoils them, and it free advertising for them.
