A horrible but reliable golf.
It leaks heavy rain, goes into limp mode sometimes and it’s got terrible bodywork. Doors don’t lock and windows don’t open. It never breaks down, it’s economical, and I’ve done 12000 trouble-free miles all over the country in it over the past 18 months.
Mot to June, lots of service history, bought off a friend who had it for 15 years. 103,000 miles. Newish Michelin cross climate winter tyres all round and new brake pads for the last MOT. The engine isn’t smoky, and uses no oil or water. It would be ideal to stick in a T4 but the car is fine to drive until the MOT as long as you have low (cosmetic) standards like I do.
This is the fault code for the engine which I presume is causing the limp mode. In normal local driving for me it doesn't go into limp mode, but if I go on the motorway or a big hill where you need to put your foot down for a longer period, it shuts off the turbo resulting in a nice SDI effect. Restarting the engine solves this so I have driven it as it is for the last 18 months.
2 Faults Found:
00575 - Intake Manifold Pressure
17-10 - Control Difference - Intermittent
00542 - Needle lift Sensor (G80)
27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
Readiness: N/A
