As part of my job I support a lad in a work experience/educational placement in a garage situation
This morning, we got in to find a box of RC car bits and pieces. The lads have dived in, but the bits that took me back to my childhood were these...

Firstly, my "caution hot!" sticker came off very quickly when I was a lad, my mates didn't and I was jealous... Secondly, SWITCH LUBRICANT seemed like such an amazing thing, was so tricky and expensive to get, it was a real luxury thing! Never have you seen a grown man so excited about an old, half-empty tube of gunk! Where's my wallet?

I'm with you brother. I'll never forget the smell of Tamiya threadlock either. All that switchlube seemed to do was crud up the speed controller with grit. It was never long before you ended up with nothing or flat out. I've just started getting back into the RC stuff and really enjoy it, having young boys is a great excuse. I recently splashed out on a Kyosho Nitro Mad Crusher truck and it is mental, great fun. I used to spend hours studying the Tamiya RC guide books, and glossy annual release books. Happy days.
