So the abs light is staying on, mk2 daughters fusion Plugged it into a generic code reader, no faults, did a reset, still on Came on a while ago after a rear bearing failed, so I’m assuming it’s the sensor or reluctor on that wheel I’ve ordered another reluctor because they’re less than a tenner, but apparently the battery disconnect & wait 5 mins doesn’t work after 03 year? Certainly didn’t work on this So, finally the question. Will the light switch off when the fault is repaired, or do I still need to have it reset via a code reader, despite not finding a fault code? Of will it switch itself off after its own self-check? Tia

I've had a few of the small Fords throw an ABS code when started on the ramp at work. Clearing the code doesnt reset the light, but usually driving up to about 10-15mph will reset the system IF there are no faults

Most cheapo scanners won't show a code. Forscan will.
And yes, the code will go once the component has been changed.
If the bearings are like a Mondeo, they don't have a reluctor ring but a magnetised side for the sensor to read. Cheap bearings and incorrect fitment can cause the light to come on.
It would have come on after changing the bearing however I'd have thought.
Where in the country are you? I do have Forscan if you want to read the data.

Cheers ChasR but I’m in Norfolk so a bit of a hike! It’s the magnetic style reluctor shown above, hoping it’s either that or curse word/ too big air gap on the sensor The light may have come on after the bearing change, but in usual style I don’t get told until the mot is due and ‘what’s that light do dad?’

The reset time is about 60 mins as I found the same on my ST also if you loose the speedo it's the ABS pump unit that needs changing as the speed feed is taken from the wheels not the gearbox, rust parts on the wheel sensors can cause the error code you have I know as I had the same on my ST on the front and rear on the magnets.

Thanks peteh1969, but as stated in the other thread ifs the end for this one, with other faults it’s not viable, and I’ve already sold bits off it, and it’s replacement is already bought & in use!

You must set it off by yourself because the problem doesn't always disappear. I don't think that it will disappear by itself, but it may be possible if your car will see that you have solved the problem, the main problem here is that it doesn't always see it. In such cases, you can use thinkdiag.co.uk to reset the car or go to the service and they will turn it off. I think that the first option is better because you will always need an automatic diagnostic device for your car.
