Rust converter
can anyone recommend a decent rust converter? my sons VW Lupo daily has some pretty bad rust in the roof and we want to sort the rust before we do any paint work. Thanks

I used to use Hydrate 80 all the time and have a brand new bottle to open. But I recently heard of Vactan which Canal boat people swear by. I'm partially convinced it's the same stuff, but I've never used it.

Dinitrol RC900 Is the good stuff. Not cheap mind. It leaves an epoxy layer over the top of the converted rust.

Bilt Hambers Hydrate 80 is the way to go - I appreciate that are many rust converter products in the market - all making various claims about how good they are and whom uses / recommends them - 98% of which simply cannot supply the data to underpin the claims that they make - Both Bilt Hamber & Dintrol are companies that subject their products to field & laboratory testing - then make the data available - I have been using Hydrate 80 on a professional restoration basis for several years now - never had a comeback or issue with it - link below www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-protection-and-rust-treatments/hydrate-80

I can vouch for Vactan, reasonably priced too.

I'm using vactan today. I used it about a year ago and another car and it's kept the rust away so far.
I chose vactan as I saw a few mentions of it on other forums and it was relatively cheap. Hardly scientific research.
