WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Retro Rides Weekender 2020 (powered by R-Tech Welding Supplies) will be POSTPONED to 11th and 12th July. Tickets will automatically roll over, refunds are available if you can't make the new date.
NOW READ MORE THINGS: Like a lot of people we've been monitoring what has been going on and government guidance with a great deal of scrutiny, not just because we've already watched Tiger King and are now rationing out Parks and Recs so we don't run out of things to watch, but because events are going to be one of those massively affected things. We didn't want to postpone, but knew it was likely inevitable, however the dates we could postpone to are fairly limited, both from Goodwood's and our organising point of view. We also have to consider the likelihood of being able to run events (even relatively modest ones) and when that may be allowed, or indeed advisable as we want to maintain the safety and health of our those attending and those working at our events. We feel the 2nd weekend in July gives us a fighting chance of not being under government restrictions on events and allows us to run what should still fulfill everything we'd desire from an event.
We've got a bit of extra time now and plan to put that to good use bolstering up the display paddocks for Acceptable In The 80s and Stock Vs. Custom. We're also hoping that our Deadline display may well end up with a bit of an extra boost from all those stalled projects that seem to have found a new life with the lockdown. We will be updating our website and events system later this week. With a fair wind and everyone doing the right thing now, we'll be standing at a sunlit Goodwood together in a couple of months, so stay home and do that social distancing thing now, so we can all be together sooner.
If the new date is unsuitable for you and you need a refund please email office@retro-rides.org with "Retro Rides Weekender Refund" in the subject line.

How late would you need to know about refunds? It's Dragstalgia weekend and I'm helping a mate with his car there so probably can't go, but depends whether they permit racing by that point.

The new dates clash with another event I'm already booked in for - I was really looking forward to RR but maybe next year!

Good work on finding another potential 2020 date rather than just rolling on 12 months.
Fingers crossed all is looking rosy by then.

It's whether Motorsport UK are permitting race meetings by then (I assume shows RR shows don't need it as non competitive?)

No doubt many questions will arise.
Two I have;
1) if you've purchased a weekender ticket and camping ticket these are fully transferable so no need to re-apply.?
2) If you're unable to attend, but would be willing to have a credit against a future RR event, would that be possible?

A suggestion for future events what about a sleeper display area?

Will the display stands be announced at 6 weeks too please? My job for this Friday (and probably weekend) is to get Weekender ship shape, as it looks like we're going ahead with it (Goodwood seem confident about that). Of course we're still waiting on firmer government guidance for outdoor events of our size.

Not sure how signing on will be possible and the briefing for tracktime entries on the Saturday . Even paddock parking far enough apart to allow social distancing ? Being a 76yr old petrol head I am concerned as to how these things can be dealt with if the event gets the go ahead . I've not seen any warning for us to book are track cars in yet

I've not seen any warning for us to book are track cars in yet Don't worry about any of that - HoTWire I hope knows we've pretty much all of that in hand/planned if we get given the green light he just has to fix my track ATretro-rides DOTorg email issue We've ( gewy, mrs Gewy and gewyjnr and myself) been doing this stuff for a while (in my case over 10 years for RR at Haynes, Prescott, Shelsley and Goodwood) and I think we are a damn good team. We've had to write "elf and safety" risk assessments, had curve balls thrown at us from all angles when what we planned got rejected but still made it work, we've all made mistakes and fixed them on the hoof and appreciated all the feedback over the years when we've asked RR's what worked and what didn't. It will be different to "normal" of that I am sure but it will be as good if not better than previous Two statements I live by are key Experience is what you get when you don't want it & Where there is the will there is a way
