Having worked from my home office for the past 5 weeks it was drawn to my attention during a recent video call that I have a lot of Scalextrics cars on my shelf and, do you know what, they were right... A mixture of Scalextrics, Carrera, Nico and GB are sitting collecting dust. My question to the panel is therefore if I wanted to move them onto a more loving home how do you price them? I also have boxes and boxes of track, pit lanes, goodwood chicanes etc etc. Why the urge to sell now? I want/need to get my truck back on the road, the biggest expense stopping me is the purchase of a suitable gearbox so am hoping that my scale hobby will help in making my real life version mobile. So, how do you price it and where is the best place too move it on? Advice and general abuse welcome. P.

Not specific to scalextric but I try and watch ebay auctions / buy it now items of similar condition to the ones that you want to sell so you can gauge an idea on price.
It’s tricky to tell how the current situation might affect values, on one hand people might be concerned about their financial futures and others may be earning more than usual or have extra cash spare because they can’t spend it on their outdoor hobbies. Fewer people might be willing to travel to collect compared to normal times too.

The easiest way to find their value is to put them on ebay starting at £1, and stand back and hope for bidders. They will reach their market value at the end of the auction. Having said that I had two Minis, one red and one blue, both in similar condition. I listed them seperately the same day, the red one went for just under £10 and the blue one went for £23! So much like selling anything on ebay it's a bit of a gamble, you've just got to hope that there is atleast two people who want to buy you item.

I have a load of old 60's cars but they are all in pretty poor condition - Really old GT40 Mk Sunbean Tiger 190 Merc Lots of open wheelers etc But the majority is early 2000 stuff when I really got back into it. I have somebody that is interested in taking the lot but now I am getting to that point sort of getting cold feet. Why? Well I will not get enough from it to make a big difference in my gearbox fund but should I want to replace them it would cost double what the gearbox is going to cost! Good job I did the lottery yesterday.... Thanks for the feedback chaps. P.

eBay seems to get the best prices for Scalextric stuff, I've been buying a bit of it recently (mostly 80s/90s stuff) recently for something to do inside Probably worth selling any rare stuff separately, and then maybe doing job lots to get rid of scruffy bits and bobs. Parcel2go.com lets you send up to 25kg for under £10, so even posting large amounts of track etc isn't too bad.

I’ve been collecting on and off for years, if you look at the ‘things you’ve achieved since you know what ‘ thread you’ll see my cabinet, and that’s merely some of the cars I’ve got IME track is practically worth nothing unless it’s specialist bits, buildings and trackside stuff varies on condition, but as stated certain cars are worth quite a bit Look at eBay completed listing to get some ideas of pricing I’ve recently started buying job lots of parts to complete some of the cars I have in pieces, and judging by the competition so have others, probably to have something to do during lockdown Get some pics up, some of us may well be interested EDIT be very wary of parcel2go ( no offence tofufi ) but they have a habit of suddenly deciding that your parcel was overweight or oversize and charging you extra, and of course once it’s left you there’s no way you can prove it, I tend now to go directly to someone ie Hermes,, although I bet others have had problems there too!

EDIT be very wary of parcel2go ( no offence tofufi ) but they have a habit of suddenly deciding that your parcel was overweight or oversize and charging you extra, and of course once it’s left you there’s no way you can prove it, I tend now to go directly to someone ie Hermes,, although I bet others have had problems there too! It's a fair point - but actually I think it's mostly that they aren't *that* clear on the allowable sizes, especially with Hermes who have a lot of different options depending on size and weight. I always put the dimensions in on the search now, as it saves you from having to look manually at the options. I can't imagine that P2G ever see the parcel themselves, but only relay information from the courier(s). I've only had it happen to me once, and it was a pair of headrests which I'd packed in a padded envelope, and was just within the size limits. I can see how if it was put at the bottom of the pile the parcel could have been a different shape by the time they measured it! Luckily they waived the additional fee for me as I was a fairly frequent customer at the time. I broke a car a while ago, and sent most of the items out through Hermes - never had anything go missing yet (fingers crossed!)

Only thing I would say about parcel2go is that I read about someone who has had it happen to them time and time again, and started photoing their parcels on the scales When they got the next payment demand they forwarded a copy of the pic and heard nothing more Trying it on? Make up your own mind 🤔

Going to start with this little beauty. Yes it is dusty but going to give it a brush up, question is what to do about the stickers? Leave them on, replace or take off? P.

No idea, but I would suspect that if you had spare stickers, selling with stickers not applied, would allow a buyer to decide.

AFAIK they came with the number rounders already attached, if that’s what you’re referring to? I’d leave them there, don’t want to damage anything, and they’re probably as old as the car anyway
EDIT-just checked, and my GT40 from the same era in white has then attached(no 7) and I didn’t put them on so I’m thinking they’re original
