I've just bought my first set of staggered wheels for the Merc wagon - they are 7.5j at the front and 8j at the rear. I'm thinking I might need longer bolts for the rear, rather than swapping over the current set - is that right?

Mercedes do sometimes do that, but proably not on staggered width wheels. so I’d check they length by poking the old bolt through the new wheel and seeing how much sticks out. But you should be doing that when changing wheels for non-standard spec anyway.

Bolts are normally the same length, just the rim that is different. Also be aware that if they are not merc wheels you will need new bolts anyway due to the radius seat Mercedes use.

Thanks for the replies, gents - really helpful. Dez - your advice seems really obvious now (d'ur!). They are OEM Merc wheels by Borbet - 'Alshain' model/ 17" flavour if that means owt to you. Carat 3.6 - I know you know your Mercs but not sure if they are newer than your usual areas of interest. They're going on a 1st gen W230 C class 270 cdi. So these: On here: Ta, Nick
