Unfortunately my parents old Mk1 Mondeo Estate has just failed her MOT, and whilst not fatal, I've not really got the time and space to sort her out. The family has many fond memories of this car, and rather than see her broken up I'm hoping someone can take her on as a project; I was going to but as I said, no time, no space As such, free to a collector is this 1994 era Mk1 Mondeo estate with the 1.8l zetec engine. Just so no one is under any impressions, she looks like most Mk1's do now - I think the correct technical term is "Tatty AF". There is a working CD player (aftermarket), and I believe most of the electrics work, including the inevitable airbag warning light. The garage reckons the oil leak is the head gasket failed, but I haven't had the chance to look properly.
On the bright side, over the years she's needed very little welding - apparently the first years of these had galvanised bodyshells, but not sure how true that is. Interior is present and in reasonably good (if pretty filthy) condition. Also this thing can hold a serious amount of kit - I once got a 1UZ-FE V8 and auto transmission into it assembled (not that I would particularly want to do that again!), and a couple of years ago got five 15" wheels with tyres in the back (it was barely half full) with a Capri bonnet strapped to the roof (roof rack comes with it). This thing is the next best thing to a van in my opinion.
I'm probably being optimistic as these aren't the most popular of cars for projects, but she's a solid foundation for a restoration or restomod, or just doing the necessary work and having a ratty runaround! We would really like to see it go to a good home and not the scrapyard in the sky.
Edit: This has now gone on to a new home, and hopefully a new lease of life. Thanks for looking.
