I have this sat in a cupboard waiting for the day it goes in my SD1. Judging by very little info on the web except for Japanese( I think) and the fact it has an FM convertor attached to it appears to be an import. It will be taking the place of this to give a little more power etc. (Excuse the dust/webs it had been laid up for 20 years)

Tested some of my old stuff tonight: Sony is playing tapes perfectly (had no antenna on hand to fit) Blaupunkt equilizer amplifier shows lights and response to buttons but I had no headunit available and a din cable to test it totally. (found out via the web that it cost over 500,- new...). Always nice playing around with this old stuff. Must make a demo cabinet next winter sometime to show them all nicely and under power. Thom

yeeeeaaaaah budddy, in 1989 this is what you got in a base model astra, 4 pre-set AM only radio. which is actually luxury, because before jan 1989 the base model just had a blanking plate in the hole... We used to have two company vans with those stereos in them.

Spent ages looking for this Pioneer KEH-9300. Finally I got lucky on eBay. I picked one of these up from Facebook Marketplace a few weeks back. Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet - was thinking I'd put it '91 MX5 but I believe it's from 1983/84 so it might be better suited to something a bit older...

Just checked the Summer 1984 incar car Audio magazine that someone on here posted to me a few years ago and there’s a little review for you... Very interesting to read - thanks! :-) The wiring on mine has been butchered (in that way that lots of pre-ISO connectors used to be) and it doesn't have the "black box" on the loom that is mentioned in that article any more. From the wiring diagram in the manual it looks like it didn't do much anyway and I'm hoping it was just a way of keeping the wires together, unless anyone else knows otherwise? I haven't hooked it up to any speakers yet though - just a 12v power supply to confirm that it powers on - which it does. Random thought... I much prefer Pioneer's original logo to the one they use now.

I do have quite a collection of audio. It's most 00s based mind you. I'll have to dig some pics up. Here is something I had a while back: This might be late 90s. A Phase Linear Monoblock Some Dynaudio 240GTs. If someone has 6.5" midbass drivers for these, let me know. An Alpine 9887R, complete with the BT400 Bluetooth box. Here it is fitted into my now sold E36 323i and 944 Turbo. I'll have to dig up shots of my Phase Linear Aliante sub and Genesis amps.

Destined for the Lanchester is this Ekco CR32 from 1947. You can remove the front plate to access the presets. MW/LW only, and 6 preset stations available. Pre-transistor so it's valves inside instead. It is substantial. I've not powered it up yet, it's in the project queue so has only received a clean so far and a cursory inspection which has revealed very little of concern besides a fair number of wax capacitors that need replacing. Best of all, it came from this very forum.

With the front off it wouldn't look out of place in a WW2 tank!

I worked in a car audio place in the 90s and we sold oodles of those Sony head unit/changer packages. Most people wanted the Alpine equivalent but couldn't justify the cost.
