Evening all Anyone know if it’s possible to get a clutch cable for a ford Sierra with a type 9 that’s approximately 10 inches longer than standard? Thinking out loud here, but involves a zetec, a LHD Bellhousing and a starter motor side swap TIA

Would one from a Granada work?

Would one from a Granada work? Not sure if they’re any different to the Sierra ones, main issue is that the clutch fork obviously changes sides too, so cable will have to run under engine, and there’s the problem

I believe transit cables have the same ends to. Your best bet would be a call to burton power, they can tell you the length of all the cables.

I know people like Speedy Cables and Speedograph Richfield will do "special edition" cables, if you need a different length for example.

JJ Cables near Coventry have done several custom clutch cables for me.

Thanks all, it appears that 2.3 diesel sierras have the fork on the other side, so investigating that. It’d be nice to have a standard part

What does the pedal fitting look like, and what’s the length of the standard item?

Some LHD variants Have absolutely ridiculous clutch cables. The one on my Citroen pickup that ran a mt75 and pinto was out of a LHD transit and was over 6foot long. Went all the way to the front of the engine bay and back again in a big loop.

Well at least there’s no kinking then 😀 I’d rather too long than too short scimjim it’s the standard ford issue ratchet and pawl at the pedal end. I’ll have to find the old cable and measure it,

I’ll have to find the old cable and measure it, I don’t know what the ford pedal end looks like. The Small Sports Scimitar has a type 9 and I don’t think they changed bellhousing a when they made LHD cars but changed the cable. The Reliant pedal end looks like this:

The bellhousing on the sierras is the other way round on the LHD to RHD cars, ie the starter and clutch fork change sides I’ll see if I can find a pic of the clutch pedal, the one in the car isn’t conducive to good photography with ‘head under the dash’ angle!

From a Granada manual, but sierras are the same The cable end is a loop which fits through the pin, secured by the spring clips Designed by the devil himself! Give me a mk4 cortina with 2 x 17mm nuts for adjusting any day

The protruding inner cable on a Ford “self adjusting” cable is a lot longer from memory than the Small Sports one.

We’re waiting for the bellhousing to arrive, then bolt the whole lot into the car, and I’ll get an accurate measurement then, there’s not much point until I know exactly what it needs
