I want to change the steering wheel in my Jag, I'm fairly certain there isn't an off the shelf option available as there generally isn't demand for it, so my question is does anyone know of/recommend a good machine shop or engineering place that could make me one?
I have an old steering wheel to use the splines out of and a Nardi boss, I was hoping someone talented could make one out of the two.
Any suggestions most welcome.

If it's steel its a dead easy job, I did similar in my Cherokee to fit the older wheel.

Is there anyway I could find out looking at the wheel, markings etc?

Simply, remember your science lessons- does a magnet stick to it?

Anyway, basic science lesson over, the splines are definitely not sticky but the outer metal is.....a little bit.
The bolts in the wheel are strongly magnetic, the metal surrounding the splines is magnetic but the attraction isn't very high?
My telescopic magnet will hang off it though.

I would imagine it’s an alloy with steel content. To be fair it’s usually obvious if it’s steel. It will just.. kinda look like steel. Still not impossible but will require some actual engineering to make it work rather than welding the splines to the boss. (Although I make that sound easier than it kind of is)

(Although I make that sound easier than it kind of is) Yeah it obviously has some steel content but also something else. Anybody recommend an engineering shop that could do it? I could just find one but I've been burnt in the past using people I've just found on the internet, so now I prefer recommendations from people who have used someone before.

There's your recommendation right there: It shouldn’t be a problem to do. 😊 Personally not used JB for anything but I've seen enough to know he is far more than qualified to do what you need

If you would like me to do it,I would be more than willing to look at it for you. I’ve done a couple of various bits and bobs for people on here. As far as I am aware ,we are still all on good talking terms....🤣.

I could just find one but I've been burnt in the past using people I've just found on the internet I’ve found @johnnybravo on the internet, except once, but on that occasion he gave me too many beers until my carer made me go to bed Ah, the good old days when we could meet people with similar interests and drink beer! Anyway, he’s real and nice helpful bloke and though I’ve not had him make me anything, having seen what he has done I’d recommend him
