Mrs Crockpot has just bought herself a new car (Suzuki Swift Sport so not RR fodder) and was offered Diamond Brite paint and interior treatment at a cost of £344. "protects the paint madam " etc but my skeptic senses were twitching. So I thought that the RR collective would have some thoughts they could share. Snake oil or well worth it? Or something in between?

Do you have any detailing products?
If so I'd just properly clean it and then wax and seal it. That would last a year.

I'm surprised that stuffs still going, we had it when I worked and a rover/Chrysler garage some 15 or so years ago. Salesmen would swear by it, I cant honestly give you my opinion on it simply because A) I didn't apply it B)I didn't own a car with the treatment and C)It was usually Jeeps that got the treatment and they were always filthy.

My mums K11 Micra was supposedly Diamond Bright protected before she got it way back in about 2006. There is a few areas of rust creeping through now, but generally after a quick double bucket wash comes up absolutely amazing So I would say for the price quoted and if its guaranteed to last, it sounds pretty reasonable value for money

Have a look online to see how much the product costs. It might be worth perusing the terms and conditions as well.

I probably wouldn’t bother. Of course salesmen swear by it. It’s sold on commission I would expect. I’m often sceptical if the product is ever actually applied to the car by the valet teams, or weather they just apply the sticker. I’ve worked in enough main dealers to have not actually seen a valeter applying it, if you get my drift. I’d spend the money on washing and waxing the car over it’s lifetime.

I reckon it's something, but no more effective than a conventional wax.
If it were me, I'd do the following ; These do last and I've tried these ; However, they work best on a polished car.
-Collinite 476S - This stuff will last around 6+ months on a car. It will feel nice to the touch and make getting dirt off much much easier. On wheels, this stuff is ace. Scrubbing wheels will become a thing of the past. Howeever, don't put too much on. It can be a pain to remove. A light coat that you can barely see on the car the all you need. -Collinite 915 - The liquid version of the above. Slightly less longer lasting but being a liquid and not a past, it's easier to apply -Meguiar's Ultimate Wax - Not alot of difference between this and Collinite 915. -Meguiar's Ceramic Spray Wax. I thought this was snake oil TBH. But it does last and give a long lasting shine. My Mondeo is somehow still shining 4-5 months later! -Chemical Guys Carnauba Wax _ this will barely last a month! But it will make a car look amazing and it's a great cleaner. I've used it to remove overspray/marker on cars etc. It's that good. For a secondhand car dealer, it's a pricey but great way to spruce up a car.

It is a good product if it is applied correctly but that only happens rarely!

Thanks for the responses guys. Decided it's over 50% snake oil so won't bother.
