I’ve had several gunsons pressure bleeders over the years, and although I can usually get a reasonable pedal with them, I’ve never actually managed to use one without blowing fluid everywhere out of the master cylinder cap Yes I know that you have to use a low pressure, but I’m getting to the stage where the pressure is so low that the fluid is basically weeping out of the bleed nipples, and I’ve got rags stuffed everywhere to stop the fluid from leaking all over the bay So finally the question, has anyone used the bottle type bleeders with the built-in pump, where did you get it from, and how much was it? Alternatively anyone found a way to seal the gunsons jobby properly? Tia

I have two Gunson Eezibleeds and they work just fine.

I always run a bit of brake fluid around the washer on a Gunsons cap and look to see the seal is showing a complete circle through the translucent top. I also use fresh fibre washers on the pipe connector. My Gunsons is ancient but still works, having seen the price of a Gunsons I would probably plumb for ballbagbagins option

I've got a sealey pump type, much better than my old eezibleed and you don't have to mess with spare tyres. You should only run about 20psi through either even with ABS systems.

They work the same as an easy bleed just with a pump insted of a tyre.. If you are having leak issues you need to fix the leak. These will still leak if you have a leak. 😉

Have you got a compressor ? I switched from an Easibleed to a vacuum jobby. Much better.

Thanks all, slater the leak is where the eazybleed cap fits onto the master cylinder reservoir, and seems to happen on whatever car I’m bleeding, and regardless of pressure in the tyre, unless there’s so little pressure is cease to bleed Unfortunately looking into the sealer type bleeder that’s not going to work either, master cylinder cap supplied is 42/45 mm and mines 28, which doesn’t seem to be available Back to the drawing board

You can modify an old cap with a barb, or use a new rubber washer with your current set-up. when mk1 son bought a vacuum one a few years ago it was worse than useless 🙁 I have limited experience with a Mityvac system, and found it pretty useless; it was leaking everywhere.

Wow, there's a lot of pieces in that ! Mine's a Sealey one - www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-VS020-Pneumatic-Bleeder-Multicoloured/dp/B008632ERA - simple and I've found very effective. Bought it as I was fed up of not getting a firm pedal on the competition car using an EasiBleed (found the EasiBleed was great for changing the fluid but always had to manually bleed as well to get a good pedal feel). Switched to the Sealey bleeder and 9 times out of 10 one bleed and it's good to go.

I wasted 80 odd quid on a mityvac thinking it would be the dogs danglies, what an utter piece of curse word that was. I just use my oil extractor now instead for bleeding if gravity some pipe and open nipple doesnt work.

Don’t follow your logic there, the leak is where the bleeder fits to the master cylinder, so a different system = a different cap/seal/ system which would hopefully be better? Anyhoo I’ve got other fish to fry on the car currently 😀

Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to do, but the leak is the bleeder, NOT the brakes!!!!

Don’t follow your logic there, the leak is where the bleeder fits to the master cylinder, so a different system = a different cap/seal/ system which would hopefully be better? - If the leak is between the cap and the master cylinder: fit a new rubber washer/ seal inside the cap, or bin the Eezibleed cap and modify a cap from a master cylinder identical to yours to accept a hose. - If the leak is between the cap and the hose: fit a proper hose barb with good seals to the cap that came with the Eezibleed, or modify a cap as above.

We seem to be going round in circles here The brake system is fine, from reservoir to calipers, including all seals, no leaks , just need bleeding The leak I have is the connection between the eazybleed and the master cylinder reservoir cap, unless the eazybleed is run at such low pressure to make it inoperative it sprays fluid from the cap fitting all round the engine bay I am unable to get a decent seal between the eazybleed and the master cylinder reservoir cap This is the same on several eazybleed systems I have This has occurred on several vehicles I have used the eazybleed on I have tried new caps and seals, to no avail Hence the reason I was looking for an alternative pressure bleeder

No, if neither of the two scenarios in my previous post apply I'm afraid not. Edit: are you using a screw cap, or a "universal" one? If the latter, bin it, and use a proper screw cap.
