Mk1 phase 1 Yaris...produced from 1999. I'm currently running a 2001 Yaris T Sport as a daily, its been a surprisingly fun to drive little thing, and they seem cheap to pick up as well. Have so far managed to resist modding it also, but some lowering springs and some 15x7 wheels are very tempting...

One for my four-seat MR2 thread? Maybe with a 2ZZ?

One of those cars I've looked at for ages on and off. One for my four-seat MR2 thread? Maybe with a 2ZZ? They are quite small although the rear seat slides so you can have semi-reasonable legroom in the back at the expense of boot space. I did have a look to see if 2ZZ's swap in but they don't seem to be an easy swap. Most results for 2ZZ Yaris' seem to be the second generation which must be more closely related to the Corolla. There was a 150bhp Turbo version of the Yaris T Sport/ Vitz RS for the Japanese market, which might suggest the stock engine could take a bit of boost, but if it can be made to fit, a 2ZZ would be hilarious in one I reckon. One thing the Yaris does share with it's Corolla T Sport bigger brother is that the standard seats are a bit lacking in bolster support, so if I did make mine semi-quick, I'd certainly look at changing them

Cheers for that. Back seats would only be for occasional use, and even then mostly for the dog.

The yaris is a good car, we're on our second as a school run, kid taxi, tip.run car. The diesel variant does good mpg on the motorway and the 1l is awesome round town. Really easy to work on and parts are cheap.
Our £800 one is now into it's fourth year with us, wheel bearings and an alternator is all it's needed.
The early ones are now disappearing though.

The dyno chart says 312hp, it's completely mental.

Jaguar X type earliest are on 51 plates, most have rusted away so if you get a good V6, could be worth it. And no matter what the uneducated say they are not just a Mondeo in a dress!

Rover 45 V6 150bhp, handles well and a fantastic sound. Less than 100 now left, and cheap as chips if you can find one. A pleasing and surprising car.

Almost bought a MG ZS v6 before I opted for the Celica GT instead. Supposed to be one of the best handling cars out there.

306 gti6. Especially if you could find an early phase 1 model. Still sell pretty cheap when they come up, can see them being worth strong money in a few years time. Would love to own another one. My favourite drivers car I have owned out of over 40 motors. My old one

My favourite drivers car I have owned out of over 40 motors. My old one I looked for one of these in decent condition for literally months, they don't exist. They are also WAAAAY out of the idea of a bargain. 306 Cabriolet though, they're cheap as chips and real pretty to boot

Okay this is 1989 but close enough? Just bought one of these, notionally as a parts car for a Nissan Pike factory model, but it's such insane fun to drive I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to kill it... Micra K10 1.3l 5-speed.

I have recently picked up a 3.0 X Type, its an auto rather than the manual i would have preferred, but it is all seven shades of awesome; 46,000 miles and a fantastic interior. What a car!
