Looking for advice please, there is some scuffing on my wife’s car (merc )gl320) see first pic I have a Polishing mop which I used once on my headlights with good results however I have never used it on bodywork. just after some pointers really as I don’t want to make things worst any advice is appreciated 👍

Pay one of those dent guys to do it . Thanks for the input but I’d rather have a go myself I know the basics of what to do I was just after some pointers really from people who are more competent than myself.

I'd be more inclined to get a tube of compound, and have a go by hand if you're not confident with the electric one. I did similar on my Mondeos door.

I only said that as it looks to me like it might be past polishing and have a slight dent , that might be the light paying tricks though.

You might be better just getting some fine wet and dry paper start gently with 1000 grade wet and than some more flatting with 2000 wet, finish with some T cut on a soft rag by hand. Doing it slowly by hand is safer than trying to get it done fast with a power mop, it is easy to cut back too far if the mop dries out and burns the paint.

First thing to do before even attempting is to see if you can feel the scratches with the ends of your fingernails - if you can then forget it - you will never polish them out - only route here is fresh paint I'm afraid - and I'd say from the pic that are certainly too deep for what you are planning
