Anyone used an icarsoft mb 2 ? Looking at getting one for trouble shooting my 07 merc Cheers
Not specifically, but I did have the Porsche equivalent at one point. Cost a lot, didn't work for anything except P codes, got a refund.
If you don't particularly mind a bit of setup on a laptop, I have used a Delphi ds150e (commissioned by Frau Farbissina, if you know what I mean) on a Smart before, which is otherwise supposed to need MB Star. Did a load of specific gearbox routines using it. Cost a fraction of the iCarsoft prices.
Works well and is really easy to use. I think it's the next best thing to the Mercedes STAR software. It can do most things such as read and clear most faults, but if you need to run things like the rodeo program for suspension you'd need STAR.
Just recently read and cleared a mates codes on his W221. Diagnosed an issue that was causing an engine light fault and he was happy not to have to pay MB dealer diagnostic prices
Hi thanks for the offer but unfortunately I don’t have access to a Laptop Cheers
A lot of these things are designed to run on XP/Vista, so if you have the chance to, it's a good idea to get a Retro laptop for such a purpose. New laptops are a pain with Diagnostic software due to that.
I'm on my second (first one went breasts up just out of warranty) Sorted out both my W220 and w163 fine, even got a star cable for using on my friends e class to find the engine fault.
I would defo say make sure its updated regularly. The failure the first had was that it one kept coming up with a message relating to cable, got a replacement, still no joy, so bought another for my sins.
Hi thanks for the feedback il get one ordered👍 I like the idea of the icarsoft mb2 as I can stash it in the back of the car as we a planning on doing a lot of driving abroad and if we have any issues on the road at least we can diagnose them ourselves Its an X164 07
