Intrestingly i just looked up the fact they must have to contact the DVLA for your details. They do, it costs £2.50 per lookup. And from what i can see is an automated process and if you are one of the " British Parking Association! or the "International Parking Community" they just hand it over without looking to see if the cause is credible. How could they with thousands of requests daily. And seemly, don't keep a record of who they sold your information to and at what time.
I'm wondering if this is how classic cars get stolen, find a car posted online just input a reg and for £2.50 get a registered address, leave it long enough (Maybe logs are kept for a short amount of time, or maybe not at all) then go a pickup your new classic car for free.
Got me wondering what the legal implications of registering a car at a bogus address/under an alia or under a trust or would be, and how that would be enforceable?
Becasue the DVLA are in effect selling your personal information. And you have no choice but to register the car with them. You can't not agree to the 'contract' by owning a vehicle?

Update time........ automated demand for £100 arrived this morning, 14 days to pay before it gets referred to a collections Team apparently. I have still not had a response from the email I sent so will scan the demand and resend the email, technically as I have appealed under section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 and section 2 of the protection from Harassment Act 1997, they must stop sending letters until there’s a decision on my appeal.
Will include that wonderful snipit from CAB in the email and recorded delivery I will send.........
Let the Carnival begin.......

I had a strange one when my mum borrowed my car as hers was having work done. She had a permit with the local railway station, and had squared it all with the station staff beforehand. They were happy for her to just write a note explaining the situation to put in the window. Ended up getting an extortionate fine. Something like £160, although it was quite a while ago so I can't remember the exact amount. We wrote a letter explaining the situation, but the letters kept coming. Eventually they started coming for a solicitors called 'Wright Hassall', which upon reading for the third time we though must be a fake name! Started ignoring them and they went away in the end. Turns out there really is a solicitors firm called Wright Hassall. Talk about nominative determinism

14 days to pay before it gets referred to a collections Team apparently. Collections team - Not bailiffs, not High Court enforcement, none of that. They can't collect anything unless they've got a court judgement against you. This is simply the stage in their letter sending where they change from trying to look like official council fines, to trying to look like official bailiffs. I used to have a folder filled with these fines, but unfortunately it was thrown out before I could get it all scanned in. It was a bit of a sport for me, parking on private land and collecting all their letters, always nice to get a bit of post! The way I see it is they're no better than bullies.

How long ago are we taking? The law is very much on their side now.

We're talking years and years ago, before they actually started taking people to court. Probably around 2010?

Hello
Three or so weeks since my last update and more importantly no further communication from parking eye, I’m not classing this as a victory yet but with the end of the month and giving them 28 Days to respond looming I suspect no more action will be taken!

These parking eye scum have more rights than you think,if you get a genuine stamped ccj letter from them then you have to pay it,or suffer the consequences.

I’ll wager you that will not happen my dear friend, But thank you for your concern. Ultimately they cannot prosecute me for a service I could not purchase due to the Hotel being closed.

If they've managed to get a CCJ against you then you've allowed it to go too far without action. You would know way in advance of any intention to take it to court and could act accordingly, either by paying their charge or by facing them in court.

I'm still getting letters from one of these companies for parking in the Peel Centre. I sent in proof that I had gone to the Frankie and Benny's, and heard nothing back... for 3 years!
Now I get a letter every 6 months asking for money. i've told them I sent the proof, but they keep sending the letters

Write back to them saying you've sent the proof and for any further communication from them you will charge them £100 for the reply. Furthermore, state that if you receive any further communication, this will be considered as acceptance of these charges. In addition, if payment is not received within 28 days, then the charge will rise to £200.

The first we heard from them was a court date, they class proof of posting as proof of receipt, allegedly they sent multiple letters prior to this which is odd as none had been received.

As far as the legal system is concerned, as soon as a letter is sent it is considered to be delivered. Apparently Royal Mail are infallible. Funnily enough the DVLA don't accept proof of postage as such!

You had to receive the notice of the alleged offence within 14 days of the exact time of the offence. Over that & it isn't legal You need to go on 'which' parking site & use the "cease & desist" template. You need to write to the hotel & the current landowner outlining the fact it was not open= rules do not exist= what the hotel have already told you= attempt at scamming.
You need also to state that each & every letter from now on including any already sent will be charged at £50 /item +telephone calls @ £200 /per hour or part hour office cost if any further harassment is forthcoming.
You actually need to do this in writing by letter.
If in receipt of another letter/email institute a small claims court claim immediately for all of the above & don't forget to add in the small claims fee . ( You can add vat to all of it if you are a vat registered business.
They tried to fraudulent scam me for an 11minute overstay in an M4 car park , some 7 months after the event & illegally using the " cross border directive" & quoting "POPLA2 codes, which only apply to a UK resident % all this dressed up in spanish , thinking that they were dealing with some unfortunate no nothing foreigner.
Utter scum all of them I'd bar the doors & brn the office down with them inside.& breath!
