Hi guys misplaced key for my 78 jag xj6, any ideas on who might be able to help tried few clubs main dealers and local key guys but no luck...
You can pick up blanks on ebay but that's not much use unless you have an original to cut them from. You could find you need to swap out barrels, look for someone breaking a s2. IF the barrels are really worn they may turn on any similar sized key? I once opened and started my s1 in the dark inadvertently using the steering lock key from my Honda moped.
When I first found the E Type luckily it was unlocked but unsurprising it had no keys so I took the Logbook (to prove ownership) & some ID to a Jaguar Dealership & they gave me the key numbers the car left the factory with.
I was then able to order replacement keys via the numbers.
Luckily no locks had been changed & all keys fitted, even the glovebox!
Not sure if they also keep records for the XJ6 but good luck.
Many years ago we managed to misplace the keys for a transit van. The old smiley type. After looking for a week we concluded we would never find them. We called a guy out who managed to cut us a new key with some pretty clever gadget. We paid about £80 iirc.
It might be worth trying numerous key guys as someone must be able to do it.
