Ok, so i have always wanted to build my own car and i really like the Lupo as my daughter has one. The Lupo GTI weighs under 1000kg and as standard has 125 bhp from a n/a 1.6 engine. The BAM 1.8T 225 bhp engine swap has been done and is a great swap. 100 extra ponies. But i was looking at the Revo website and they offer a remap to 275bhp for the 2.0TFSI engine. www.onlyrevo.com/product-details/software/audi/a4-b8-2007-2015/79/stage-2-plusHow about a 275bhp 960kg front wheel drive monster Lupo? Actually, whilst writing this, i noted that the revo solution for the 1.8T is better than the 2.0TFSI www.onlyrevo.com/product-details/software/audi/tt-mk1-1999-2006/91/stage-3 375bhp? Good low mileage engines can be had for £600 on Ebay...... Can anyone help me with this? or should i seek medical help?

Just remember that either turbo lump has a lot of extra hardware to go with it, so I doubt it would be under 1000kg when complete Other than it being a squeeze to get in there, which gearbox is used may be the issue for available space

www.clublupo.co.ukGTI are getting rare, find a sheddy one to cut about or just use a 1.4 sport or others instead, yes the GTI looks nicer but you pay thru the nose for one and will devalue it these days by cutting it about. TFSI is miles harder to do than 1.8T which has been done plenty (4 wires on AGU etc so choose engine code wisely to make the job a lot easier).

You'll need a gti rear beam if you want discs on the rear. I think gti front discs are 256mm so you may want beefier brakes up front when the engine output is increased as you plan.
I think you'll end up with an engine too powerful for the chassis if you go tfsi. It'll get hot inside that little engine bay with the turbo and manifold. The suspension will need work to cope with the extra weight of the engine. It might up end really nose heavy with that extra weight up front.
Maybe stick a 16v in a lupo or get a low pressure turbo setup or even a mapped mk4/5 golf rather than over power what is very small car.
I think you should aim to mimic the 106/205 rallye, nice revvy n/a engine in a super light weight lupo. Polybush it and add beefy arbs, front brakes and some coilovers and decent tyres. It won't be a rocket ship but you have so much fun in it.

1.4 sport has disk rear beam already, you can get whiteline arb kit for it as well. Rear disk is not required and is mostly cosmetic unless you intend track use. It also has 256mm disk same as the TDI. (GTI is 5mm thicker). They both take 280mm G60 stuff, though bigger will go on with a lot more difficulty. All the other Lupo will need hubs etc from Sport / TDI / GTI to make the brake upgrade path available. 1.4 Sport are also pretty rare now but don't have the value tax of the GTI and they turn up spares or repairs with knackered gearbox and usually very cheap. 1.4 Sport 100bhp has centre exit exhaust and rear disk brakes for easy ID purposes.
They are fantastic little cars that put a smile on your face. I prefer the TDI though its the best of the bunch all round.

It has been done & the guy used the DSG box as well.
I would imagine you can get the same power for a lower total cost if you go down the 1.8t route. Personally I wouldnt engine swap a GTi though as it's just going to devalue it.

friend of a friend had a 1.9 swapped Diesel many years ago, mildly tuned for 200+ bhp.
well short of the 500 plus hat Darkside developments are pushing out of their 2.0 16v tdi though !

Something different maybe to take a Z-Cars approach and go for a bike engined Lupo instead, I’m sure it has been done but it depends on how good at spannering you are?
You are going to have to start with a 3-4K gti, or a sport as suggested if you can find one..... maybe a stripped out TDI with a power hike could be just as much fun, go for the power to weight ratio and torque rather than willy wangling BHP.
My pickup has a power hike with a combination of intercooler, injectors, turbo etc and it’s awesome to ‘lay some coal’ when the boost kicks in....
