Got all of the interior wood restored now. Came up shockingly well and was surprisingly easy to do, simply a case of literally scraping the brittle old varnish off, a quick whizz over with some very fine wire wool, and then three coats of Danish Oil over a couple of days (6 hours drying time between coats slows you down a bit). Also repainted all of the lettering on the bakelite controls.















Just the instrument binnacle and storage boxes to sort out now, the former needs me to learn how to do scumbling, the latter just needs suitable fabric deciding on when we've had a rummage through the stash.

Would you try a woodgrain paint effect tool or even vinyl effect for the instrument surround?

Yes, that's the route that was chosen. My very first attempt at scumbling. Could have done with a finer comb and maybe a slightly darker base coat or scumble coat. Definitely something I'd like to do more of with different combs so that I could get better at it. For now, what was achieved is perfectly presentable so we're sticking with it. This marks the dashboard's completion and is ready to reinstall, the temperature gauge will be installed last so as to not run the risk of breaking the capillary tube.

Really quite pleased with how that turned out.  As soon as the jigsaw blades arrive we can get the door cards done since we have all the other materials we need to do those now.
