Let my experience hopefully prevent this from happening to someone else.
Last year I picked up a set of 14" Techno Phantoms on Yahoo Japan. I had done some research into companies in Japan to restore old rims like these and one in particular stood out, Izanami Wheels.
I subsequently had my wheels sent to them but following some discussion, decided against having them restored so asked for them to ship them back to me. I never saw them again.
They were busy at the time and said they could not ship the wheels straight away but said they would tell me when they were posted.
They did not tell me so I waited patiently assuming they still hadn't posted the wheels. When I later contacted them they said they had been posted around 2 months previously.
They also said they would provide a tracking number but did not.
The shipping company (Yamato) said they had no record of the wheels ever being dropped off and had no record of the delivery address so it appears they were never posted.
Without the tracking number or proof of postage I can't make a claim. You become completely powerless in this situation and I've now got to accept I've lost about a grands worth of wheels.
Large items like these don't simply disappear. Someone has these wheels.
If seen advertised, please contact me.
