Ignoring the practicalities and pros & cons for installing these two types of pedal boxes. Are there any ergonomic or functional pros & cons that would influence making a choice between these two? TIA

Most people who didn’t grow up driving beetles, pre war fords or some other similar car find floor mount ones horrible. I once actually lost a sale on a hot rod as the guy couldn’t get on with floor mount pedals, ever only having driven top mount. It’s usually the clutch that messes people up as it’s usually a lot harder on your knee as it most applications you have to twist your leg slightly to work it.

Ahhh, memories of switching between my beetle and my sister's mk1 fiesta. Hated the pedal set up in that car. Not driven floor mounted pedals for probably 10 years now though. I find top mounted throttle easier though.

Floor mount pedal boxes are just hinged to the bottom, rather than poke through it? I’ve driven enough stuff with floor hinged throttles and doesn’t bother me either way.
Strength of what you’re mounting to is probably a deciding factor. A normal tin top floor won’t take the loads as they weren’t designed to. If it’s got a separate chassis though..
