2 stroke petrol in a 4 stroke - any harm if diluted ?

Hi all, I’ve got a 5L can of 2 stroke and the chainsaw doesn’t like the additive so was going to loose it into the Land Rover next full up (40L) other than a little bit of extra smoke is this going to do any harm ?

I’m sure it will be fine in an old Landrover. Would be more wary putting it in a modern loaded with emissions gadgets.

It'll be fine, if it was less diluted it might foul the plugs.
Our old landy used to get all the petrol/diesel mix when people filled their cars up with the wrong stuff. Ran on it no bother.

Just thinking about this today, if it's a petrol Landy then no worries.
If it's diesel still no worries but the petrol might clean your fuel lines out and clog the filter up. Probably won't but worth bearing in mind.

It's a 2.3 petrol and the 2 stroke was made from superplus so should be fine - will report back after a trundle to town later !
Chainsaw is much happier on the proper stihl red 2 stroke oil as well, think I need to bin the other stuff to stop me using it next time I run out of the stihl stuff again.

It'll be fine. I've got various 2T garden equipment and mopeds, I drain them before each winter so they don't gum up the carbs and the oil doesn't settle out. I chuck the leftovers in my cars (1989 Supra and occasionally 2000 Lexus, but prefer to run it through the older car because less emissions/cat), just keep the volume relatively low, maybe 1L of mixed 2T petrol to a tank.


Runs fine, can't smell the Castrol Power1 though which is slightly disappointing. Doesn't smoke either, I guess it wouldn't running at about 2000:1

When we moved house many years ago I went to load my XC Falcon onto the transporter, made it half way out of the garage, and ran out of juice. Chucked half a gallon of two stroke in it and it started up and drove onto the transporter just fine. Drove it around a bit at our new place then drove it into the garage where it sits to this day.
Short answer, no worries whatsoever, it'll be fine.

And if you have an older diesel vehicle about the place then straight two stroke into the diesel will not do any harm. Some say it makes them run better.
Made no difference to my old 300Tdi Discovery.

Well it’s running and starting fine so calling that a win 😀.
perhaps a slight whiff of burning oil but hard to detect in the general hydrocarbon fug of an old inefficient engine.
