Hi Guys, I find myself with a problem, I currently own a 2014 Vauxhall Meriva, its been reliable, trustworthy, frugal and dependable.... but my god is it boring! I bought this car when I had to do a lot of mileage for my job, selling my beloved (albeit not retro) Vauxhall Zafira. Below are pictures! Now something inside of me has snapped, and I'm wanting a Zafira GSI - I do less than 600 miles a month now and probably 1 or 2 holidays in this country down to Devon or up to Scarborough (I'm in the South East) Someone talk me out of it, or encourage, or better yet give me an alternative to the GSI? It's got to fit 3, maybe 4 children (Occasionally) in it? Thanks Dan

I would go for the zafira gsi br]I drove one brand new back in 2004 as the company I worked for hired it for me while they sorted me a company car, I only had it 3 weeks and didn’t want to give it back. Hopefully you can find one that hasn’t been “modded”

That is the only problem, they are either high milers with zero care taken or modified to within an inch of their lives.

If you wanted a Zafira, why not go for the VXR? Good upgrade on the GSi and a fairly rare VXR. Look very sharp in Arden Blue.

Hi neighbour There is a silver Zafira GSi on my road (behind the Shell garage ) always thought it was a good compromise if you need the extra seating. Other possible alternatives...... VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy with the 2.8 v6 engine Ford did the late Galaxy with the same engine as my Mondeo (Focus ST 2.5t 5 cylinder) Volvo 850/V70 T5 (some estates came with the extra boot seats)

I've seen that one, they have a few motors on the drive don't they! I'm opposite the Audi Dealer! Did always like the Galaxy, well the 1st gen, never been much of a VW fan, even though they are the same car Volvo's are something i've looked at, always fancied a 240, but they are going for silly money these days!

I've seen them around, but unfortunately they are too long for my drive, my old Zafira just used to fit on there

The only reason I sold her is because of the ex Fiancee and my commute to work, what a mistake to make!! The Zafira B's have had reliability issues, as well as a self combustion issue!

You are right about moderns these days, so boring!
I drive a Y plate Volvo V70 I bought of this very forum last year, very reliable once a couple of small issues were sorted but has never let me down and have done 25k miles without any dramas, (although fuel consumption is hardly great, but small price to pay when car owes me nothing)
Go for it! You'll regret it if you don't!

I'm currently using it as my daily/family wagon and although it hasn't put a foot wrong, it's 20 years old so statistically speaking, something expensive is increasingly likely to break, which isn't ideal when it's your only car and you can't do without one. As a result I'm actively looking for a modern that is 'reliable, trustworthy, frugal and dependable' to use as a daily, so the BMW can just be a car I enjoy owning/driving without having to think about the wear and tear on what is, to be honest, an old car now. Admittedly, COVID has led to such a massive reduction in my mileage that is effectively just a 'weekend car' anyway but I doubt that will last forever. For a daily driver or family wagon, you want reliable, trustworthy, frugal and dependable ...

My thoughts behind it are, cheaper to repair, scrap yard body panels, more interesting to look at, more smiles per gallon!

Isn't there a slightly smaller Meriva VXR that does mad 0-60 times? Always thought it was a mad sleeper.
