I don't spend that much time on here any more, but thought RR was the perfect place to post this. Maybe a little modern for the interest of some of you, but the 90s are my absolute favourite period of cars and I know there will be a couple of you that share that.
That's pretty bloody good, ain't it?
90s Touring Car racing is my favourite motorsport (along with 90s WRC), R32 GTRs are one of my all-time dream cars, and the Supertouring era is my favouritest era of my favourite motorsport, so to see a pair of JTC Group A spec R32s battling it out with a Supertouring era BTCC Vectra was an absolute golden moment for me, and something that is only seen on rare occasions now, and was never seen in period. It's a real treat to see them all getting a proper hammering, and in such close proximity to one another.
I went on the Sunday just for this race, but ended up staying all day just to practice shooting moving cars as it's a nightmare trying to keep the shutter speed slow enough to show movement, as you have to match the car's speed and direction very closely or it ends up a blurry mess. I found quite a few times that due to the cars going slightly up/down hill and me panning flat, they were blurring diagonally as I was only following them in the X axis and not taking the Y axis into account. Anyway, I went back on the Monday for another crack at the 90s stuff.
The above shot was one of a burst of several, a few of them were blurry due to my rubbish panning technique, I feel so lucky that the one which one of the cars in zero-blur was the one that happened to be taken at the exact time the Taisan GTR shot a flame, AND that car was the one with no blur. (You can't really get all 3 cars in sharp focus with no blur as they're all moving at different speeds, on different gradients and different lines etc)
I got a bunch more, these aren't as polished as they're only edited via Instagram and not a proper photo editing program, but I'm reasonably happy with them. I tried to give them a bit of a period 90s feel.
And finally, another lucky flame shot which I managed to capture sharply enough!
Unfortunately there were a few of these:
But I don't mind as I got some shots that I was really happy with, and got to watch some absolutely amazing scenes.
I've got a fair few more shots from this race that I'm going to have a crack at editing, will post them if they turn out well.
Feel free to discuss 90s Touring cars!
