Ford escort mk2 loom 75AG 14335 BA 357412  I think it's a mk2 loom, has this label attached, i was under the impression that BA on an engine block (crossflow) was 1600, would i be right in assuming this is for the same?

75 is first year of that model,so yes mk2
AG denotes escort
Your right that AB is 1.6 on the engine block,
In this case it’s just the level / variant of part,
Later level/ supersessions go up alphabetically
So AC,AD,AE etc

As far as I know the middle block of numbers relates to what the part actually is.....

Engine harness would be mostly same for any cc of cross flow,but would change for other reasons,Spec and age mostly,
manual / auto,pre-engaged starter over inertia,run on cutoff valve etc

Same with interior wiring,for options and level of trim...

One thing that would differentiate it from a base model would be the connector blocks to the dash and the addition of a tacho sense wire.
