As is so often the case, I have a solid, reliable, dependable and frugal car which I've just put a fresh ticket on, and one which the tester commented on it being a really good example... But that urge to change cars is digging in. First couple of photos are mine, the rest are from the PO. I can take more if needed. I've owned it for about three months now, and have been commuting in it for 80-odd miles a day, alongside several trips of a few hundred miles. It hasn't missed a beat in all this time, it consistently gives low 50s mpg over my hilly rural commute, and well into the 60s on a long steady run. Cambelt and rear axle refresh were both done a couple of years ago, the rear axle is lowered a wee bit, and it has 25mm lowering springs on the front. Not too low, a little stiffer, and able to soak up curse word roads with ease. Ride and handling are both good for a 21 year old estate. Price is dropped to £750 but I'm open to a part-ex for something dailyable with cash my way. Located in North Northumberland, near the A697, Alnwick and Rothbury are the closest towns, Alnmouth and Berwick-upon-Tweed are the closest rail stations, and I can meet you at either for a contactless handover.

I keep wondering about buying this back, but it's no more appropriate than it was when I moved it on. It is a cracking drive like, that HDI is in good fettle.

I know it’s not what you’ve said, but is there any chance you’re interested in a swap with a 2004 Outback 3.0 with cash my way?

I'm not wrong, you just don't agree with me. There's a difference!

It is - today I took the bairn to nursery, then collected two sets of wheels in Cramlington, dropped them off in Jim Bell Country, up to Kelso to pick up some stuff then back home. 200 miles, sat at the legal limit* with zero complaints, and 52mpg when I filled it back up and did the sums.

I know people don't like it when people say this but ... getting all the way up there now is just a no go, otherwise I'd be genuinely interested. I love a 306 and wouldn't mind a diesel wagon for daily duties.

I'd swap a "Gold Medal" Stellar plus some cash... But it'd need a bit of work before it could be daily driven... IMG_4846 by srblythe, on Flickr
