Just a thought, when i was looking at companies a while ago for replacement turbos several said that their warranties were voided if the intercooler wasn’t properly cleaned out at the same time as fitting But of course you did that didnt you 😇

Cool. I have a replacement CHRA to fit to my spare turbo as the one fitted isn’t boosting that well and is a bit noisy on a cold start. Fingers crossed it goes OK. no, but it was a used turbo I put in it has since been washed out when I buy a new core for my old unit, I wouldnt be worrying about claiming any warranty should it fail, its an old car, old engine, one thing is for sure is that I will have gained a lot more knowledge from all of this.

I have stripped down my old turbo and the core is now out was quite easy really, helped by having no snapped bolts or other fixings this is a question for those of you that may have already chipped in to this thread previously and might have knowledge of buying the cheaper end of ebay turbo cores - would the shaft assembly be balanced on those? cheers all

It should say whether the core has been balanced in the advert. I had to replace the turbo on my low mileage daily and bought one from a 'local' company that turned out to be in Poland! My £1k turbo arrived with fractured actuator module, dents and scratches and the cold inlet pipe was bent oval. It looked like the thing had been dropped and kicked around a warehouse. When I tried to reject it I sent pictures and got a reply along the lines of "It just cosmetic still work good ok" so rejected it and got a refund eventually. If you can ,buy from somewhere over here so at least if you have issues you can go to their premises with your shotgun complaint.

I should imagine it’d be pretty rare to find a CHRA that wasn’t.
