i live up in the JoG area, slightly West of Thurso. The road si beginning to calm down a bit now with the winter about to set in. I am thinking of a glamping pod for next years season, with a view to maybe 4 or 5 pods in the end. Need to finish the garage project first though

The A9 has average speed cameras for about 4 million miles. Never saw many Rozzers about. Saw quite a few super cars lambo, Ferrari, McLaren) which was a bit of a waste of time for them, they probably didn’t get out or second gear. The A9 was a hateful road. The stretch between Inverness and Perth took way longer than it should have due to the 50mph limit for HGVs and National Speed Limit for everyone else! With that said, I went in August and never had a problem with traffic. Start early and you'll be fine. I also never saw a police officer, besides one hanging around outside a shop in Thurso, for the entirety of the Highlands.

you do have the option to take the glencoe road North, to land you in Fort William for the kickoff. Therefore dodging the cameras and some better scenery.
