As always loving your updates. Well as long as someone does What car does Mrs Bc's cousin own as sounds like the cockroach of cars and nothing will kill it. It's a Hyundai S Coupe 2.0 16V "2008" can't upload a picture so have a buyers guide www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/used-cars-used-car-buying-guides/used-car-buying-guide-hyundai-coupePeople like that scare me. Fully accept that some bods know nothing about cars and rely on assistance and guidance of others, BUT when that advise is ignored, it really boils my onions. Tyres especially, yes it can be pricey but running round on slicks is just plain dangerous\stupid..... You can lead a horse.......... You did make me laugh with bleeding brakes though.. not done it myself but more luck than skill.. I never do it with an easy bleed but I bloody well do it every time without one Often thought about getting one of the Gunson easy bleed kits, but like the pela oil Extractor I bought, think it would just be left in the box as easier just to remove sump plug.... I just threw away my gunsons easibleed after 20 years service - it leaked more fluid than it decided to push into the braking circuit I bought this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brake-Clutch-Bleeding-System-Fluid-Bleeder-Kit-3-Liter-Manual-Brake-Bleeder/203207794880Used it for the first time to do a brake fluid change on the "hot wash" coupe Way better - no need to deflate a tyre to 1.4 bar to provide the pressure - just fill up reservoir - hand pump up to 2 bar and go to each wheel in turn with a catch bottle and bleed nipple tube If the current assigned future keeper of 740 decides not to go ahead, happy to step forward and include an easy bleed as a sweetener 😁😁 lol - he's been a bit quiet but I did say I've a few more things to fix As an aside whereabouts are you in Norfolk. It's been our holiday choice for past decade, so know Hunstanton to Gt Yarmouth quite well. Last few years have been Fakenham\Cromer area. Been going that long we now have favourite chippys.. Mmm Holt fish and chips..... Oh I'm in the bit of Norfolk that Suffolk didn't want and very close to the bit of Suffolk that Norfolk didn't want I explain it to my American friends when they say what part of London are you from "look at a map of the UK - It looks like a man wearing a top hat riding on the back of a pig" "Scotland is the head and top hat" "Wales is the head of the pig" "Cornwall is the front legs of the pig" "Kent is the hind legs of the pig" "East Anglia is the Ar5e of the pig" They look at a map and after a few minutes agree but say where do you live then "I live in the middle of the Ar5e of a pig"

"I live in the middle of the Ar5e of a pig" Oh I know it well. You,ll have to contact what3words and get your three changed over to match. "Hello this is the AA, you wish to report a Hyundai breakdown. Can you give your three word location" "Yes, of course. Middle, Ar5e, Pig" "Thank you, I have that location. Be with you in about an hour"

Pic Heavy Post I've had a Gunsons Easibleed for 20 years or more and whilst depressurising a spare wheel was a bit of a faff it's been way better than the Brake, release two man operation - anyway it died and I searched around for a replacement and bought a self pressurising one - I'd used it on the "hot wash" coupe and it pee'd brake fluid down the side of the reservoir - I'm now after today thinking user error. So Brake fluid change (last done 2012 I think) First job - cap off and extract as much of the fluid from the reservoir I have access to the occasional bag of 60ml syringes that don't meet the required stds It was pretty dark!! When fitting the cap it was pretty clear that the tolerances between cap and reservoir weren't great - it was very easy to end up with the adaptor cap on the curse word and then the rubber seal can't quite cope (I think this was my error last time). Anyway I had several goes at fitting the cap before I was happy it was sitting level. Hook up the rest of the kit However I wanted to replace the brake nipples first so no pressure added - Long story but I really don't trust brake nipples for repeated use - the heads round off and are a curse word to undo and when one sheared on me many years ago I decided that as they were pretty cheap items I'd replace them as soon as they looked rough - the 740 ones looked bloody rough So with the nipple replaced time to pump up the volume Crack open the newly installed nipple Then wait till the fluid colour changes This took a little while (mainly cos I always start at the rear wheels (longest leg) Eventually What followed was a rinse and repeat for all the other wheels - whilst it looks like I'm working on the car with just a jack under the diff - the rear jacking points both had axle stands under them and the the wheels removed were underneath the sills (the front wheels were chocked while working on the rear and the rears were chocked while working on the fronts

So another thing that was really bugging me was the wheel fitment I ran it on staggered 18's then when the dreaded shimmy arrived and the tyres where shot I reverted to 16's in a square set up Front arch fitment was fine Rears not so much They just look lost in the arches Now I had a set of 15mm hubcentric spacers and longer wheel bolts for the "hot wash" but the rears rubbed like a curse word So I fitted a pair on the rear to fill the arch a bit better OK slight error on photo angle but now that's much better Also thought I'd better check out the ICE and I can confirm the Radio works - OK big deal - The CD changer still works - they tend to FTP and I'd already repaired it once - but the most amazeballs thing was the cassette player works So here's a Youtube video Points awarded for identifying my crappy music tastes

Good to see the ICE works. On my previous one it would be a temperamental git. Would always power on display wise, show cd changer changing, TV even worked, but you'd loose sound which was sort of the point. Never got to the bottom of it, always thought it might have something to do with aftermarket digital TV receiver that had been installed.
Just remembered I also did a video when mine was working for the Sat Nav. Waaaaaay back in 2016. God knows why?? So I also provide E38 Sat Nav
Wheels also look a lot better with the 15mm spacers. Top work.

Never got to the bottom of it, always thought it might have something to do with aftermarket digital TV receiver that had been installed. TV no longer works on this one due to the analogue to digital changeover - when it did work I only used it once whilst on an "extended wait" for Mrs BC Just remembered I also did a video when mine was working for the Sat Nav. Waaaaaay back in 2016. God knows why?? So I also provide E38 Sat Nav Oh I haven't checked the nav yet - it worked last time I used the car but isn't it brilliantly clunky It really is of an era Wheels also look a lot better with the 15mm spacers. Top work. I think so - it fills the arches a little better - they are hubcentric Bimtec items and fit snugly on the hub and inside the wheel - next owner can remove if not to taste So wheels and stance continued......... fitting the 15mm spacers meant longer wheel bolts and the original locking wheel bolts couldn't be used (no big deal as I only had three - and three cover caps - long story made short - I'm always on edge doing lockers up to the same torque as the rest - had one shear many years ago and it was a swine to remove - so I'm pretty sure it was my fault one of the original lockers and cap covers made a successful bid for freedom) As I had a set of extended length locking wheel bolts I used two of those for the rear Now this made my teeth itch - different locking bolts front and rear means two keys so I cut down the other two to the correct length for the fronts I had to allow my OCD to kick in too - I always fit locking wheel bolts next to the tyre valve - that way if it's dark and curse word down with rain and you get a puncture you know by feel which nut is the locking one as it's next to the tyre valve - especially useful on wheels with deeply recessed lug nuts or bolts Now it has a full set of locking wheel bolts - the right key for them and a full set of nut covers (plus the VAG tool to get them off) on the non locking bolts Obviously in doing this recent work I am still in compliance with Mrs BC's new rule "do not spend any more money on that car" (well except for the brake nipples but I'd ordered those before she issued the new rule ) Oh and bongs left to cure is now just one "tyre control inactive" - the rear drivers side door switch saying it was open has now decided that it is shut after all

I have one of those pressure bleeders and it's one of the best investments I've made. A couple of cars in the family do not have spares as is the way in recent years. I also can't be ar$ed to mess around humping spare wheels to an accessible position and deflating to 20psi for the Eezibleed kit.

Was a stunning day, but ended up with three other parents sitting in the car. Air con running watching the match on a four inch screen. Weirdly was quite enjoyable...

Few more little jobs today and a parts collection AC had lost it's gas (I now know why) So first evacuate the system and see if it reaches the target Then seal off the system and check for decay - in 30 mins it lost nothing so system doesn't have a leak So on that basis we can stick some gas in it Tare weight System needs 680 gr +/- 25g So target weight of the gas canister is 3780 +/- 25 gr after enough gas has been put in I'd call that close enough Then I need to rescue something from this Passenger Seat base foam to replace the collapsed one in mine (left the leather on it although it won't be used - just the foam) - this is likely to be in the parts stock that goes with the car to the new owner Mission accomplished Hopefully they can replaced the foam without resorting to seat abuse that was carried out on the donor seat Oh and it needs a new pusher fan - the high side goes way over pressure if running the AC when stationary :-( On the plus side it cools nicely when on the move

Is that E39 a breaker of yours BC? I’m desperate for some in colour panels for mine. No it’s my mate Will’s old Daily - he’d had it longer than my 740 - 300,000 miles and the engine got really tired along with the gearbox so he bought a 745 (which got written off) so he replaced that with 760 iL You’d need to tell me exactly what panels you need so I could have a careful look at them - but we need to be quick by the end of next week it’ll be fragged

In other news I've ordered a new pusher fan from Germany (not from BMW they want over £400 for one) hopefully it'll be a reasonable quality OE spec replacement (at a 1/4 of the price) but as I've refilled the AC system seems stupid/irresponsible to let it all out by accidently leaving the AC on in traffic
Explaining that to Mrs BC might get a bit tough.......

Thank you that’s a nice thing to say It still has a few niggles like most older cars but it’ll always have a few - to be honest I’ll be a little sad to see it go but you can’t keep everything forever I have two or three motorcycles that need the same/similar treatment that are tucked up in my garage needing a few little jobs sorting and then they can get sold as well. One of my project cars needed to go on the drive for a few weeks to enable me to do the motorcycles so the 740 going will help with space
