Apart from Language barriers, timezone differences, and being a mere 5870 miles away - This seems quite a task. Trouble is, just looking at this little Mitsubishi Minica makes those barriers seem insignificant! www.ts-export.com/jpa-b.php?id=2Q6NRHjiZr33aTw&t=ajStarting bid at 360 quid. 300cc's worth of a bizarre mix of a shrink-ray, a Mazda 323 & a Sigma. Spare parts would be rather challenging!

I think it is all doable.
Shipping gets to be costly

I have seen people with bags about the same size at airports - would it fit?

I think Ratdat bought a car from auction in Japan? I always follow the Facebook page of Nippon2U to see cool stuff for sale at Japanese auctions, maybe they can help you with your quest.

Shipping will be about 1.5k + taxes and stuff on arrival. Right now the pound to yen exchange rate is in the absolute toilet though so it will be a spendy way to buy a car. As The Doctor says, someone like Nippon2U are likely the easiest way to do it.

If you do it, arrange for a load of spare parts to be thrown inside when it's put in a container. If it's RoRo, then obviously you can't do this sadly.

If you have a trusted contact out there, that is the best way to avoid being bitten.
As said, Spares can be king in a deal, as the stuff simply is not made for tem.
