Oh hey Grizz- sorry for late reply after being tagged. Its a two door!!!! I'd rescue it just because its such a cute wee car and you may well be the only thing between it being crushed or having a new lease on life. I have become very d=fond of our little micras. I know they are not exactly classic but they are still such neat wee cars with so much character in a small package. Very simple little things that have great feeling of solidity and dependability ("oh you've done it now" said mr Murphy....) Treat it as a little challenge for yourself to see how little you need to do to fix it back to a legal state. Then pass it on to a young owner who might hopefully continue to look after it. No worries. I know you are altogether a great ambassador for this sort of thing.

It is a throwaway society we live in now But for people like us on here it can be a blessing I’ve just become the owner of a very tidy Vauxhall combo van , maybe not yet retro but I really like the little van It came in for an mot at my sons garage and failed the mot on a rotten sill and one shock The owner simply didn’t want to spend any money on it Crazy imo, it’s been looked after all it’s life an ex Royal Mail van with many years left In it This sort of thing happens regularly at George’s workplace so we’ve had a few come home recently Everything needs saving now I’m older I’d rarely scrap anything, finance bank loans, no thanks for less than a grand there’s a world of decent stuff out there Den, you are a real preacher and I love your enthusiasm for all you believe. Sometimes I also want to poke you to wind you up a bit. In 10, 20 years guys like you will be the guys who allowed the stuff we see at shows to be there, by rescuing them now. No matter how people scoff at us. PS. Love that van.

Personally I love them if I had time and a few quid I would build a sleeper version, the Sproting Micra forum is good. Buy another scrapper as a parts car throw the shell away stuff the rest in the shed, its free motoring in 20 years you just wont see them Absolutely. Sadly the whole throw away mentality takes grip more and more as we go along. I have been in touch with a member on here, and he should be contacting the owner to discuss. The car will be sold at scrap value, as per an offer the owner got.

I’d be tempted, were it nearer and if I had less on my plate; but I have made a vow to get all my current projects drivable before I take on anything else at all. 2020 has been curse word in many ways, but I have been able to see proper progress on the fleet for the first time in years, and I don’t want to get sidetracked.

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

I'd like to convert one to RWD- using the cg13 coupled to some lightweight 5 speed rwd box. They already have the 5 link rear end waiting- just need a slightly bigger tunnel.

The car will be sold at scrap value, as per an offer the owner got. Throw away culture, tell me about it. An apprentice at work (clueless about cars, fair enough) was running a 58 plate corsa. On his way to sharing a lift, the car overheated, did he pull over to check it out, no he just carried on. The car finally stopped. His solution to getting mobile again? Go out and sign his life away for the next four years for £13k on another car. I offered him the scrap value for the corsa but he was reluctant to sell it to someone he knew? I figured if I paid the scrap value for it I could not lose even if the engine had melted and seized. I asked him if the temperature gauge had gone right up, he didn't even know if it had a temperature gauge. Slaps head.
