It's your money, only you can decide.
Personally, I have had the most fun in the cheapest cack I've owned - the Metro was ace, and my tatty MX5, for example. I have fancy cars because if the stress of where to park it, what if it goes wrong, that sort of thing. I loved my Porsche but it was worth so much it made sense to sell it and 'cash out'.
I (very briefly) had a Vanquish Volante as a press car, some years ago. Most expensive thing I'd ever driven. I felt like such a prat driving it, kerbed a wheel, it was more noise than speed and quite a few things went wrong even though it was brand new. It put me off the brand.
But.. it's your money and your dream.

If you can afford it (not just have the money to buy it), do it. Memories like that will warm your heart when you're an old man, stuck in bed and unable to go anywhere.
If the ongoing maintenance and bills etc are going to stress you out, don't do it. Experiences like that will probably lessen your chances of getting to be an old man in the first place.

If you can do it, do it!!
Little life story, last year around now I was enjoying life, I'd raced motorbikes and had a nice collection of them, had a mint 350z nissan and a really cool daily 300c estate, but I'd always lusted after a monaro V8, ever since seeing one on top gear, never thought I'd have one....
Then February 2020 struck, I had a massive heart attack at 46 years old, I'd actually died at one point.... I was fit and healthy, I'd kept myself fit for the bike racing, thought nothing of running a few miles, cycling 20 miles most days too.
Well the good old nhs 'fixed' me, but I hit a slump, I flogged my cars and most of my bikes all within the month of March, I'd given up on ever racing again, well ever living properly again.
Then thing slowly improved over the next month or so I was thankfully furloughed and this gave me chance to reflect a bit on life, plus watch re-runs of topgear....
So in june I bought my 'unicorn' a mint 2004 monaro VXR and its just as I'd expected it to be -
you only live once

I can probably help you out here.
If you're not sure whether you should take the plunge, buy it and I'll look after it. I know, it's an offer which sounds too good to be true, but hear me out. You buy it and I'll drive it around for a year - I'll even take it to shows you're going to so you get to see it. This way you get plenty of time to make your mind up. And to really seal the deal. So you don't get deprived of any fun should you decide to keep it, I'll not do any maintenance on it so you get to look forward to that as well!
I don't think you'll get another offer any where near as good as this. So, why haven't you collected it yet?

look at it this way, you aren't getting much interest on that money sat in the bank, if its a good one, you will have hit one of your goals, if not, doubt you would lose much passing it on.

I don't think you'll get another offer any where near as good as this. So, why haven't you collected it yet? I actually very nearly did this with a Jaguar XK8. My parents made noises about liking them, but were very unlikely to buy one as it is pretty frivolous. I was contemplating building a Mk2 Jag with XK8 running gear for a fair while (a post-Datsun project), so whilst XK8s were cheap I figured I buy one, and essentially give it to my parents to look after. They get a nice car to drive around in, maybe they decide they like it enough to take it off my hands, or maybe when I have the funds for a Mk2 Jag I take it back off them and do the swap. In the end I bought a Porsche and threw all of my spare money in to that (and the Datsun). bababoom Have you bought the Aston yet?

In 1982 I was offered a MK2 cortina savage, a car that was known to me and I turned it down, that car having undergone a restoration was recently featured in a magazine, I currently own a 65 Mustang one of my all-time favourites but I still have an itch for a Savage that got away, there's no interest on savings and cars like that always have a market no

When i was 19, my dads mate offered me a canary yellow DBS V8 for £3500 It was a good price then, he knew i loved Astons, but also warned me that it would take ALL my money and probably more besides, and if i was a really good boy it might reward me with some pocket money occasionally He also told me he was selling because it was bankrupting him, and he had a good job, far better than me I couldn’t get an insurance company to touch it I let it go....... Seen the price of a DBS now? 😔

A friend of ours blew his entire, and I really mean every penny of his inheritance on a DB9, much to the dismay of the rest of his family. When I asked him whether he had any regrets he simply smiled and said that for the rest of his life he could say he had owned an Aston, which is something I doubt I'll ever be able to claim.
To answer your question.... Get one now, while you can.

Personally I would be far less worried about a bit of paint than the mechanicals, electrics and trim on one of these, there are loads of places who can do a good paint job keeping prices vaguely reasonable if it comes to it, for anything else you pretty much have to go to Aston for parts and they certainly know how to extract cash at an alarming rate.

True but i don't want to go spending this sort of money than have to get it painted on top. Ive decided the only way i'l know if its the car for me is to see it in person. So off up for a look on Monday.

Stunning. Don't worry about the paint. As mentioned, you can go pretty much anywhere for that, if needed, rather than AM. The chances are it's been done in base-coat and 2K lacquer so if the colour is fine then a good flat and buff up will sort out any peel. It's a fairly straightforward diy job but even in a bodyshop, that shouldn't cost much at all.

Once you get the itch it's very difficult to get rid of it.
If you can afford it, will use it and can keep in a warmish garage go for it. If you find ownership wasn't what you expected you can always sell it on.
I've had instances where I've been obsessed about a car, bought it, done a few thousand miles in it then sold it after less than 6 months. I've done that with a few cars, nowadays I'm happy with my Lotus Elise and Ford Escort.
Thankfully, there's nothing that makes me obsessive anymore. I still look at cars for sale but nothing causes me to do the 'man maths'.

I agree with others . You live once . You are fortunately in a position to purchase a dream car ! Even if it means to say you have had it or to keep for as long as you can , I say YES . Do it . Smile and soak in the amazing car you will be buying ! And if anyone says the money you spent getting it etc it’s currently still during these times fool proof money and you will get it back . Older I’m getting the more I’m realising it’s what makes you happy , you’re only gonna kick yourself if you don’t I also applied my ethics above and out the most money down ever and bought my dream Mk1 cortina this week ! So to summarise if I haven’t got the point across .. do it
