Right UK based American car/truck owners etc. Switching to clear lenses on the S10 poses this problem. I need some AMBER, Push fit, dual filament bulbs. My truck runs its clearance and indicator in the same space so needs dual filaments. Advice and pointers if you know where I can order, buy, find some please. Plan B would be to get some amber glass paint. Ideal would be chrome finish amber bulbs. Thanks. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313299916081This is what I have fitted at the moment. Any pointers appreciated. The

580 bulb is large contact and twin filament. Looking at it on Google though, it seems to be single filament.

Thank you, speaking to various including former MOT testers, it seems I have to have clear front side lights, but amber indicators to pass MOT. So onto plan G

That's not correct, you can have yellow side lights in a yellow lamp. The following is directly from the MOT manual. For front position lamps, the following colour of light is acceptable:
white light - predominantly white light with a blue tinge yellow light - if combined in a yellow headlamp If position lamps are combined with direction indicators, position lamps may or may not switch off when the relevant direction indicator is flashing.

I'm confused - I had similar bulbs to the ebay link fitted in the clear lamp used on my Challenger for position and indicator -
On sidelights, the white part of the LED bulb lit. When I turned the indicators on, the circuitry in the bulb switched the white light off, and flashed the amber LEDs.
Passed IVA and MOT with no issues.

Unless you actually want amber side lights?
Which to me - someone waiting at a side road, glances your way as you approach on the main road, sees amber light, glances the other way, sees a gap, and boots it out as they would swear blind they saw your amber indicator on . . . and "BANG" . . . more sidelight bulbs required to replace the newly broken one . . .

If I can have it your way. Thats the way it would go. However. The truck was built with amber side lights and indicators. Therefore it can be tested as such. If I knew that the LED two tone bulbs would change colour at the right time. That would be the way to go.

If you're happy to have white side lights with amber indicators you can use what's called a switchback LED bulb which shines white with side lights on and then changes to amber when indicator is turned on. This is the first google result came up, double check it's the right size push fit, I've not compared prices from other places either... www.ebay.co.uk/i/233663735589

Slightly higher price usually as UK companies will have preordered them to sell on with the convenience of delivery within 1-2 days.

grizz- simple thing here to remember is: 1) does the truck have front side lamps elsewhere on the front, in the headlamps perhaps? 2) you won’t have changed anything by fitting a clear lens with an amber bulb, remember, a clear bulb in an amber lens still shines amber. 1a) if not, is it possible to add a white side lamp into the headlamp or other lamp and retain the original amber marker? You are allowed a supplementary amber marker lamp as long as you technically have a white or yellow side lamp.

I would post a link to the ones I bought, but they are now out of my ebay purchase history unfortunately.

I fancied doing american style indicators and sidelight on my t4 but decided to fit clear indicators with switchback leds. Show white sidelight, which switches off when indicating, which flashes orange, then goes back to white once indicator is cancelled Ttfn Glenn

You can only have yellow sidelamps if they are Combined with a headlamp, Grizz's headlamps are clear white so needs white position lamps and amber indicators. The bit about "If position lamps are combined with direction indicators, position lamps may or may not switch off when the relevant direction indicator is flashing" is a recent change due to the use of DRLs that combine indicators. There's an easy fix for the problem anyway instead of curse word about trying to misinterpret the rules
