Offering here before it likely goes on the dreaded auction site that I absolutely despise.
2000 Audi A4 B5 1.9 TDI (PD115) Manual. 157,000 miles, MOT until September 3rd 2021. (advisories done)
I bought this in mid 2018 as a stop gap until we got something newer, which never happened. It has been our faithful daily since then and we've covered over 21,000 miles in it, partner doing most of that going to work. Sadly, it's time to move it on as I want her to have something newer and safer. It's been utterly reliable aside from odds and ends, in 18 months I've done - thermostat, coolant temperature sensor, hazard warning switch, 2x rear brake calipers, 4x tyres (rear two have less than 100 mile on!) new discs and pads at the front and multiple services. Unfortunately, it's now started a slight whine from the auxiliary belt area which I believe to be either the alternator (one way alternator clutch bearing appears to work, however.) the tensioner, or potentially the power steering pump. (Though, steering is fine) My garage said alternator but didn't delve too deep into testing. I'm more inclined to say it's the tensioner personally, as I can feel some play. You can get them for £70 on Euros with their sales.
It still runs, and drives, and could potentially do so for much, much longer. I'm at a point where I'd rather have something much newer as opposed to throwing more money at it. I've just spent £230 on two new rear tyres and a CV boot.
The good -
Solid PD115 engine. Has returned an average of 55 mpg for us. Decent service history (with belt done, at some stage) on 157,000.
MOT until September.
Tyres + brakes are brand new/new within 6 months all round.
Body work is pretty clean all told, minimal rust really.
Has a cool 6 digit plate (from registration, too!)
The bad -
Ominous whine (rises with revs, read above, likely aux / ancillary related)
Battery tray is a bit rusty.
Battery is a weak one, it had a brand new one but I've since taken that off to use on my other car. It will hold charge for a few days fine.
Front bumper has been painted by me, it's a bit scruffy looking.
Possibly worth fixing for someone, or for stripping to sell the relatively new parts. I just need it gone, really.
Wetherby, Leeds based. More or less right on the border of North Yorks.
Sorry for lack of pictures, if anybody wants anything in particular, please do let me know.
