Got offered one of these wreckers a few years ago, absolutely mint restoration in yellow, for about £2k. Got cold feet because of license restrictions and storage... Never forgiven myself.  I even asked a Q on here... Must see if the thread still exists... |

MK3 zephyr 4, belonged to my driving instructor and been in a garage block for about 15 years
He said it was mine for £20!
I had absolutely nowhere to store it, the block it was in was being demolished and then (1986ish) I wouldn’t have had the skills to restore it, so had to decline
I still wake up at night regretting it! 🙁

I didn’t take it because I had numerous mk1 escorts and a mk1 cortina at the time

A very, very rusty RA28 was offered to me if I sorted out removing it from an old farmyard.  The owner knew what it was and so did I but it wasn't worth anything at all in 2004. I would never have finished it and I would never have sold it if I had it, but unfortunately the guy who owned it was doing a few shady deals and when he realised I'd cottoned on to him, he completely fell out with me like a bratty spoiled child, and the potential RA28 I could have had disappeared off the table. |

Many years ago I had to turn down a free MK2 Jaguar. It was in good condition but I had no space for it at the time.
Big regrets for that one.

Very slightly damaged (rear bumper and 1 tail lamp) Rover 75 2.5 Conny SE. Literally, nowhere to put it. I asked my cousin to store it, but he's (rightly) fed up with me already, having stored my MG ZR (in a million bits) for 7 years.

I was offered a red Mk1 1300 Golf by a University friend. It was absolutely hanging, needing a fair bit of rust remedy and the seats were split, but were covered with different aftermarket seat covers, yet the car still drove beautifully and I reckon I could have kept it on the road. As I was a poor student and had no means of supporting said vehicle I had no option but to decline Vicky's kind offer of £80 and it's yours - which was almost giving it away.
