For sale is a Jaguar X300 XJ6. This is the very rare 4.0 Sport model (most of these usually came with the 3.2 litre engine).
I purchased this as a non-runner, with a view to get it up and running over the next few weeks. However, life and other commitments have got in the way. Also, my classic Mercedes both need some money spending on them, so I am selling this exactly how I bought it.
I purchased the car unseen, and spent over £200 in getting it recovered over to me.
A mechanic friend of mine has had a brief look. It has had very recent NGK spark plugs, and they seem to be getting a spark. All of the relays and modules appear to be ok, the fuel pump is priming and is live. Therefore, it seems more likely to be an immobiliser issue which is stopping the car from firing. The dashboard lights come on and they go out as they should.
To clarify, it is cranking over, but not actually firing up. I don't think it is anything serious, but I don't have the time, knowledge or patience to get it sorted. The Jag specialists who I use are fully booked up for the foreseeable, so I can't get it seen to at the moment. I just need it gone now and free up some funds for my other cars.
These engines are known to be be bullet proof, and I have had a few of them over the years. Look after them, and they never go wrong. Being the 4.0 litre, it will have plenty of power and torque to pull it along. The NSR exhaust back box is missing.
Matching Pirelli P7 tyres all round, showing that the car has been looked after during its life.
Generally, it is in good condition for the year and mileage. Not your typical Jaguar rot box. Has a rust bubble on the wheel arches, but the rest of the car seems solid. The rear bumper is sagging on the NSR, and needs clipping back into place. The chrome strip on rear bumper has bowed. Marks, blemishes and stone chips as to be expected. Needs a good valet, as has been standing for a while now.
The interior is in presentable order, and is my favourite combination of Ivory leather, black dash, black carpets and the dark walnut burr trim. Finished with the chrome door handles and ash trays, it really does give the interior a classy and timeless appearance. No major rips or tears, but the driver's seat bolster has some wear and a tear on the base. Would benefit from a leather feed and the interior would also benefit from a good clean.
Rare optional extras include the Electric Tilt / Slide Sunroof and Cruise Control (not checked or used these due to not being able to drive it).
It has the usual XJ6 Sport specification:
16" Dimple Sport Alloy Wheels, Sports Suspension, Full Ivory Sports Leather Interior, Colour Coded Grill, Dark Walnut Burr Trim, Digital Climate Control, Air Conditioning, Leather-Stitched Steering Wheel, On-Board Trip Computer, Leather-Stitched Steering Wheels and Gear Surround, Power Steering, Electric Windows x 4, Twin Rear Exhausts, Kenwood CD Stereo, Central Locking, Sunglasses Holder, Vanity Mirrors, Map Reading Lights, Alarm & Immobiliser, Jaguar Spare Wheel.
I have put this up for what it owes me (purchase price and recovery). If I get the chance to ask a Jaguar specialist to look at it and get it sorted, then it will be back up for sale nearer the £2k mark. You won't find another 4.0 Sport in this colour combo, low mileage and good spec anytime soon.
It has around £2k of bills and receipts with it / One Key / Green Jaguar Leather Folder / XJ6 User Manuals / V5 Logbook.
Sold as Seen and as Spares or Repairs Only. Sold as a Non-Starter / Non-Runner. No warranty given and or implied.
I have told you all that I know about the car. It is sitting exactly where is was dropped off when I took delivery of it. It will need to be recovered / trailered away. There is easy access for a low-loader, trailer or recovery vehicle.
Ideal as a summer project, parts donor car or for a light restoration. It would break for a decent sum of money (those alloy wheels with Pirelli tyres can fetch over £400).
