This, one of life's little mysteries, was annoying me. I'm guessing they'd planned on fitting an electric door popper there? Who knows. So, a bit of zip crackle damnit crackle fizz later and it's ugly but together. I think I'll buy a roll of 0.6mm wire, the 0.8 is just a tad too hot for where the metal's thin. Phil Edit: flux core .6mm is really hard to find here! You can get solid .023" but not gasless. My welder says it'll do .6 on the .8 settings. Good work. Emptied all the curse word out of the boot. Straightened up the cross beams. Marked where the ribs are. Nothing lines up. Go figure. No doubt that despite the challenges, you will sort it out mate.

nothing lines up on mopars, which is why everything has large holes and small bolts. I think the manufacturing tolerance is quarter of an inch.

I had a Dodge Charger, the floor pan was factory spotwelded to the inner sill so badly it was about an inch different height between the front and the back, just one one side though.

According to the manufacture codes mine was a Wednesday car. Most of the spot welds are in a straight line and fairly evenly spaced. I've seen some like you describe, though. Was probably assembled with one too many beers for lunch.

Early start today. Went get coffee at McDonald's. Spent an hour and a half until the sun came up, temperature went from 22 to 32 in that time. A lack of shade put an end to beating on metal. Put these ribs into the trunk floor. Called it a day. One needs realigning- managed to get it off center by a half inch (unsure how I managed that one). Those are tidy enough, the whole trunk floor is planned to be covered in Dynamat so these will definitely help with the strength of the panel and reduce drumming. Phil

Hard work. Rewards are in the retrospective look you will cast over your workβ¦. Thinking βDid I really do thatβ being amazed at what you have accomplished. I have to remind myself with the Rezin Rockit where nickwheeler and I have come from. Nothing is done in isolation. I would make you a cuppa and say βwell doneβ PS. Dennis has been trying to paint cars in 96βF

Back to this car. Gathering mojo:- looking about to see what way I want to go with the car. This look (minus the god awful green lights) is what I'm going for. Police spec rims, dog dish caps, all the Fury 3 trim. Black bench seat, doors. Green accent trim (not much). Black dash. Banker's green headlining and carpet. Dark colors really suit the car. I really need to find the rest of the side trim. Discussion with the wife led to determining the car looks really good in either very dark green or very dark red. Can't find a very dark purple that I can afford. Dark green, black and chrome. Dark red (burgundy/claret), black and chrome. What y'all reckon?

Dark red/Burgundy pleaseπ I dunno. I prefer the green. Maybe a red with more blue in? That one's quite yellow.

What about a bright yellow ? I am very much into Greens. It's not a body style that does light colors well. I do like the really dark purple but $$$$ so the choice is down to dark green or dark red. Red would be dark red body, roof. All Fury 3 trim. Same wheel/tire combo as the green one, lowered a touch. Cream inset on side trim. Red carpet, black seats and door cards with red inset. Possibly cream headliner. Black dash top, craquelure black dash.

The only other alternative would be midnight blue, and a black/pale gray combo.
But, finding a dark blue that doesn't look cheap is hard because the pigments are expensive.
Plus, doom blue is doom blue.

What is the real life difference in paint costs for the colour you like, vs the colour you are imagining settling for?
