Ever wondered what happened to some old modified magazine feature cars or maybe a car from an old show etc? I'm sure many go overseas to greener drier pastures but just how many highly modified cars from old now sit in a field rotting away?
I'm talking about cars that were built and modded pre sva/Iva days that you’d likely not be able to build today
one that interest me is this..

I often wonder how many cars have survived when I look through dads old Nsra pics. Good thread idea and hopefully some survivor's can resurface

That’s the kind of thing I like to hear
The first car that got me into minis was a very very wide arched mini near my college, I’ll try and find a picture

The mini that got me interested in them was a local car to me and I would have been about 10 years old when this older lad had a 1969/70 1275gt running a turbo and painted in racing livery of red with a silver stripe round, it ran 13" white weller 8 spokes way before I had ever seen another mini with 13s on. Condition wise it looked mint and sounded better. The owner moved on to a Fiat Uno Turbo and parked the mini in the garage which would be about 25 years ago now. I think he still owns it but the car is not in that garage any more as he moved into his own house and probably took it with him. I would love to own it but just to have a look round it would do, just to see how well it has survived and how good the original build was and was it as good as the 10 year old me thought it was.

I remember when I was about 10 the bloke across the road from my grandma had a bright yellow capri. My dad has told me since it had a rover v8 and homemade custom wide arches and a cosworth whale tail. As I got into cars in my later years I got to know its owner, Andy and knowing how skilled he is I wish that car was still around today. Sadly it was stolen and burnt out, if my memories are correct.

I remember seeing this one at a couple of shows, not something your likely to forget! Certainly one of the more wild mini customs at the time.

I remember this one, guy called Andy Saunders www.andysaunders.net/claustrophobia/‘CLAUSTROPHOBIA’REG: AEL 298A ”As a child, Saunders would read the Guinness Book of Records and dream of being a record holder. When Claustrophobia was built the dream became a reality. Claustrophobia was given the record title of lowest car in the world, at a height of 34 1/2″ The Guinness Book of Records then took the dream one step further and used Claustrophobia on the front cover of the Extraordinary Records Book. Claustrophobia was sold to the Yorkshire Car Collection, where it was used as a ‘people magnet’ for their open to the public collection. It was sold by them at a classic car auction, and is now in a museum in Tokyo.” This famous classic is alive and well in Tokyo * please don’t post negative opinions or reactions - keep it clean people *

Isn't the 1750cc Mini Andy built in Barbados, or similar? I used to see it parked outside my college when I was 17!

Thanks for posting and as nice as it is it’s not an old build from pre IVA/SVA days the thread is about finding long forgotten cars from the hey days of mini modification and seeing if they survived and or if there’s any chance of a rescue the car mentioned is modern and in a for sale advert so not yet long forgotten appreciate you posting though
