Nice work. I've got a fair few bits and pieces I've made over the years myself. Only two with photos to hand are these, fairly similar items. ITB trumpets for my mx-5 And some brake cooling duct inlets to replace my fogs on the Yaris. I also made a couple of small bits last week which I have no photos of but a bolt in rear wiper blank to stop cretins pushing a grommet through into the boot lid and a little grease guard for my exposed shifter tower. It's a very handy and accessible tool these days. I designed and built my current printer and printed a lot of it using my old eBay printer which is slightly macabre in an inanimate way.

Very cool, very cool indeed. I've been asked to make some trumpets for a mate, what material did you use? How have they last?

So I actually reprinted the trumpets in high temp abs because I was slightly worried about heat. When its running of course they're essentially cooled, my under bonnet temps when it's off aren't hitting 120 degrees, thankfully 😅

I've done a few bits, for the mx5 cabin brace end caps. a bezel to mount the heated seat switch in on the range rover a bezel and knob for the aftermarket Air con thermostat. I've also started making some parts to replace broken plastic bits on the The TR7.

what did you use to scan your arm rests with?

I keep thinking about pulling the trigger on a printer. There's lot's of plastic parts that have gone brittle in the P38's interior that could do with replacing.
Luckily, although delicate, it's all there so is it a matter of scanning the old parts then pressing "go"?

I can't speak for all, but I've not scanned any of my bits (ooh-err). 3D scanning is a whole extra bit of kit.
I just sit with a vernier, angle finder and some patience with a CAD program. CAD can be had for free these days (fusion 360) and you can be proficient with it pretty quickly in this youtube educated world.

what did you use to scan your arm rests with? I didn't scan them, I designed them my self. But if you thought they were scanned, imma take that as a complement

However I'm completely self taught and this time last year had never done it before. I know you can buy scanners but decent ones aren't cheap. If it's something you might invest time in as a hobby, I'd recommend getting one, I do enjoy it personally especially seeing an idea in your head become a physical thing If it's some you'd use maybe twice, your probably better off just getting someone else to design and print bits for you.

Exactly the same as me bud, tho I should invest in an angle meter as all mine have been done using the ol' MK1 eyeball

This is another project I did. A chap was posting on one of the American FB pages I'm on about getting a custom badge done for his van. At the time I was looking for projects to try and make, this seemed perfect beginner job He wanted this as a badge It's the same font as GMC. At the time of making this, I didn't no I could download and install different fonts on to my cad software (fushion 360). I custom made the G and use some similar looking script for the rest. I ended up with this I had to print it just to see if my designed had worked/was printable. Which lead me to this He had no idea was going to print it, so it was a bit of a shock when I showed it to him He was very very happy He wasn't worried about it being green as he had plans to paint it any way. When he got received it he found out it glowed under a black light (I know there's a word for that, it's at the tip of my Tongue, I just can't recall it) After a couple of days I get sent these pics Truthfully, the uniqueness of the truck was why I did the design, I think it looks awesome. We were both very pleased with the out come. So much so he commissioned me to make some custom side badges. The chap has a FB page with the title dragonflier and a dragonfly mascot underneath, looks identical to this; He wanted that done for both sides of his van. Approx 14" In length So I set to work I certainly found this a challenge, firstly, the length he wanted it was bigger than what I could print, I need to have a clean brake in the design. Secondly, I didn't no that this point that I can import images to the cad software and effective trace over it. So the dragonfly was 'drawn' completely free style by eye, which is not my forte. But in the end, I got there and was quite chuffed with the results However it wasn't all smooth sailing, my printer kept throwing hissy fits, Here are the mis prints

You can have more files but you have to swap them in and out. It's not hard to do, just a tad annoying sometimes

i must have a play with that, I'm conversant with Autocad so should hopefully be fairly similar. my printer is similar to yours, been havign issues keeping the prind medium adhered to the bed lately, resulting in a few ruined prints. Think the bed needs a good cleaning and levelled up again. I'm quite new with the 3d printing.

Alot of issues do come from bed leveling, but Ive had issues of rollers getting a touch lose, belts getting lose and the steep learning curve of bed and printing temps. If you arent a member of the printing groups on FB, I'd highly recommend joining some
