Well now, I haven't really been very active on here of late due to life and stuff, but I've still been to as many Gatherings and Weekenders as possible regardless of my transport situation. I thought that as a penance, I would jot down a quick show report if you like. Obviously with last year not happening and just not enough notice to get a car out of the Storage Hedge and into service, I had no option but to use MrsMonzaphils Discovery. Again. Friday prep was as normal as the venue is a billion miles away and I don't like leaving the safety of the cattle grids, so normal start and off to work as the boss was on holiday. Cars packed, I travel with Mattwhoisn'tonhereorfacebookortheinternetoranythingwithTheSportRangeRover and we work together so organising isn't hard. We closed the workshop at lunchtime and began the arduous journey from Lymington to Goodwood.. I say ardous but I guess it is an hour and a half. We and a few others arrived before the campsite opened so we just milled about and ate Mini Cheddars (didn't seem appropriate to start on the beer). Security and campsite loading was slick as ever, keep the fire lanes clear and don't be silly, got all our gear pitched as the afternoon flew by. Afternoon drinking turned into evening drinking and we almost lit our stove but our neighbours invited us to join them and we now have some new friends. A late, late night followed by a deflating airbed led to the traditional non-sleeping first camping night. Adding pictures to posts really, really sucks but here are some from day 1.

Is it just me that was hoping for the Etch-a-Sketch drawings of the drive down?

Is it just me that was hoping for the Etch-a-Sketch drawings of the drive down? To be fair I didn’t even know an etch-a-sketch had a camera. Kids these days eh. 😂

Isn’t that what work is for? Ebay, browsing forums, quick, swap pages, the boss is doing the rounds!😇

Ever had that thing where you want to transfer the photographs from your phone to your significant others laptop but said laptop hasn't been used for about a year and there are 10500 pictures (not exaggerating). This is my current delay. On with the typing though, pics can wait. After a suitably food based lunch at the camp (didn't fancy the £8 burger but apparently they are very good, maybe next time), it was back to the track to watch more of the action and see what was parked on display. paulwoolley91 did some track based circulation in his TDi Passat wagon, maybe in the morning (some of the weekend was a little hazy), who knows?! From base model Ford Escorts to a rather expensive Cadillac V8 powered Grand Prix car which was glorious and certainly well driven, Renault Trafic camper van, Citroen 2CV, The White Chaser, many cool cars with noises and smells, lots and lots of walking around and some more walking around. Looked at A LOT of cars and wheels and exhausts and the A-Team were called, twice, and Magnum was there somewhere, just superb. Mattwhoisn'tonhereorFBoranywhereontheinternetwithTheSportRageRover is scared of flip-flops and I am a fan of inappropriate footwear so my choices were between annoying and terrifying flip-flops or Heelys (yes, they make them in big person sizes) but today I didn't fancy a broken ankle or wrist and I forgot my wheels, sad times. Turns out his fear is only based upon being the wearer not just proximity, many disappointments. Day turning to evening and the campsite is buzzing, a wander round again to catch up with folks and see who and what are arriving. more food, a little more drink and the general shenanigans with our neighbours, I believe we caught the annual Rootes Group migration at sunset too as they swarmed past the bogs back into the site. Going to sleep once again involved no sleep but somewhere nearby there was nonsense going on until 04:00ish so I had some entertainment. I think I finally went off about 06:00 which was just in time to be getting up. Pictures will follow shortly then on to Sunday. Goodwood really is an ace venue, the atmosphere is really chilled, the staff are great, I saw plenty of considerate social distancing and things like the leaning on railings and public areas were constantly being cleaned and disinfected etc. although no real fuss was made about this operation.

12,923 pictures transferred, some of which are from The Weekender. I'm going to bed.

Thanks for the photo of my truck but more for the words as they tell a greater tale.
I too have Heeley's, me and Mrs Minty bought them on day one of our honeymoon in San Diego 2007, our hotel was out of town and planned to buy them so we could cruise along the beach front in and out of town each day.
Well that was a complete fantasy, after a juddering imbalanced stop start of a clumsy Frank Spencer-esque practice session the wheels got tucked away and they've remained chunky trainers ever since.
Can you actually balance and roll in yours?

Was good to see you dude come to a pub meet some time. Your MS Paint skillz will make up for the lack of photos.

I read the posts three times trying to find etch a sketch references before realising it must be an in-joke.

fr€$h&m1nt¥ I got my Heelys 11 years ago and when my now wife and I first started dating .... I, as the romantic that I am, got her some too. We both got pretty good within a week although the CenterParcs Lodge took a bit of a hammering, and I am an ambiturner which I was not expecting (no sense of balance). She has since fallen off a horse and broken an ankle which will never be right so no Heelys, no horse riding and no manual cars, I haven't had the time but I reckon I no longer bounce when I fall over. My friend rightly advises "never Heely faster than you are prepared to run" Best shoes ever though. Wheels in shoes, genius. I'll never forget the look on the shop assistants face when my colleague and myself went to buy some, long before they did them for big people. Their look of horror and bemusement was only matched by our disappointment.
